A very concerning study in JAMA.

Meanwhile, CDC experts have been gagged since January, and children in the US have already died from preventable diseases—while Bobby & the brain worm spread vaccine cynicism.

Propaganda only works up to a point, until reality kicks you in the teeth.
8) And this one is important.

For all the talk about the powerful pro-Trump media ecosystem, the share of Americans who have heard negative business news coverage of the government has exploded.

Evidently even the podcast bros can’t distract Americans from the realities of the stock market.

Do not take a chance. Do not feed your cats raw diets now. This includes freeze-dried raw treats!

(We had a cat a few years back on a raw diet for her many allergies. If we had her now, we would change her food. It is not worth taking the risk that any particular brand is safe.)

Further proof that Kennedy at HHS is endangering lives.

The Mayo Clinic says, for the US in 2019-2020:

"Flu vaccines prevent about 7 million illnesses, 3 million doctor visits, 100,000 hospital stays, and 7,000 deaths."

I can’t believe that we are at the point where we need to constantly remind everyone that children aren’t meant to die from vaccine-preventable diseases.

NEW: The Trump admin is considering destroying 160 million COVID tests, worth half a billion dollars.

This would be a horrible waste. COVID is still around, and causes high levels of illness and deaths throughout the year. Tests are expensive. The government should send them to people for free.

Wow. So not only were several bird flu studies left out of today’s CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, some data on bird flu briefly appeared in the online report and then was quickly removed.

The Trump admin has cancelled the panels that approve NIH grants, & is also banning scientists from communicating with the public, attending conferences, and hiring.

NIH is the largest funder of biomedical research in the world. This will severely halt the development of many lifesaving treatments.

alright you wanna know how to support trans people?

hire them. It's REALLY hard already for visibly trans people to get jobs, even before this shit.

Support places that have trans people working front of house, and make sure owners know that's part of why you're there.

Here’s the switchboard number for the House 202-225-3121 and the Senate 202-224-3121. You don’t need to make a speech. Just tell your reps yes or no on a particular vote. It’s that simple. They DO keep tallies, but they can’t read your minds. Calling & writing is like voting. Get in the habit.
Believe it or not, emailing/faxing your representatives to say "I am deeply unhappy about this for the following reasons" gives them ammunition to use on the floor. They quote constituent letters all the time. It won't do squat if he declares martial law + shreds the constitution but here we are

US news outlets will be reporting that "per CDC data, Covid is at its lowest levels" and framing as if the virus is gone.

But if 2024 levels now = 0, then it's a year with 6-9 months at winter surge levels.

Think about what it means if CDC hands the new administration data showing "no Covid."
IMPORTANT

The US CDC has announced that, going forward, reported SARS-CoV-2 wastewater levels will be normalized to an endemic baseline

"Zero" on this baseline will be levels in the previous year

RIP Roger Pratt
One of the very great cinematographers.
Brazil is a stunning, disturbing &, at times, beautiful dystopian movie because of his images in tandem with Terry Gilliam’s fevered imagination. The other shots are from Batman, The Fisher King & 12 Monkeys.
Brazil is on Disney+.
It’s amazing.

N95 masks protect against wildfire smoke, airborne viruses, and more. They are an essential public health tool. Like condoms and many other public health tools, the government should make N95 masks free and easily accessible to the public throughout the year.

There are SO MANY viruses going around right now. Please wear a mask. You deserve to be as healthy as possible, and you deserve to be able to spend your time doing what you want instead of being sick.

(Also, a mask will help keep your face warm, AND it messes with facial recognition software.)
You can put a mask back on.

You don't have to be perfect about it.

You don't need a perfect seal. You don't need to wear it every single time you're around other people. You can start small and work up to it or focus on wearing it if you're sick/someone you're around is sick.

You can start again.
