Oh yeah, they'll have their choice. But the places inside the states that *can* hire them, will.

Lots of places (including our state) have used the past few months to get policies and resources in place that don't rely on the CDC. And WHO still exists for coordinating responses.

I suspect those scientists won't be unemployed for more than about 5 seconds; they're mostly not going to leave research and hopefully a fair number will still be able to help with public health.

It's probably going to have to be something like the regional groups allying with each other and with, say, Canada and the EU and Asia, maybe the WHO. It'll be cobbled together, but it'll be better than just leaving everything broken.

Apparently I live in one of the few places where tap water is actually fine for them (per my daughter who has a thriving bog in her plant cabinet) but I still use distilled.

Would be nice if the Dems would incorporate "if you have a lot of debt, you don't just need to cut your expenses; you also need to make sure you have more money coming in. For an individual that might mean getting a second job or a raise; for a government it requires increasing tax revenues."
