Chicago. Parent. Fat. Bisexual. Bipolar II. Loud. Still masking. Kind of cute if you squint. Nerdy, but in a way that's fairly socially acceptable now. I have a kid, Nikole, who is she/they and a spouse, N, who is he/him.

If you post queerphobic bullshit like "Elonia Musk" or two male politicians kissing or whatever then I'm blocking you.

You don't need to make "ewww gaaayyy" jokes about these dipshits. You can simply point to the actual harm they are actively doing. You don't need to make gay jokes period, in fact.

since I re-upped my blocks on one and don't know who the other guy even is, please know I'm saying this 100% with zero context of the details of this situation...

but god is this a pattern I have seen a lot over the years, and have been thinking about even more over the past couple weeks.
So the fact that they feel excluded and frustrated by opsec in a feminized labor (mutual aid) network, and are now both independently calling on movement to appoint mods so the mods can cancel opsec is...

...a sign that the opsec is doing its job.

Like, I don't get it.

I don't get how people refuse to understand that these men are actively demonstrating themselves to be unsafe, bragging about it, but it's always the women who are the wreckers for naming the obvious.

I can look at how his behavior online with women is harassing, many women and in particular Black women warn that he is a harasser, how he is gleefully bragging about how he is going to infiltrate protest Signal chats he's been kept out of and... certainly that assessment seems to track.

I'm not actually all that shocked to watch many of Old Twitter's most misogynistic and dogpile-happy "leftist" men all seem to be coalescing around the hot take of "harassment isn't as big a deal as this feminine labor network makes it out to be, actually"
Absolutely incredible that PissPigGranddad went to MPLS to checkout the RR networks, community defense work and he basically recites my entire pitch for what is happening, lambasting the fetishization of opsec, and the need for centralization if you want a politics that can handle escalation.

I firmly believe that everyone who is physically able should have a physical outdoor hobby.
i do think that if you find yourself spending more than a few minutes a day obsessing over what another person who's largely politically aligned with you said or did on a social media website, you gotta go touch some grass (and i am talking about a lot of people here, including myself sometimes)

Astonishingly, he is at worst the second stupidest husband in horror adjacent fantasy. The hubby in The Bones dismisses his wife's warning about Occult Bad Stuff, despite having been saved from Occult Bad Stuff by her in the previous book.

it's actually a really good political skill that Mamdani convinces people that this is true. I think American politicians, especially dems, really failed/forgot how to slap their names on shit and say that they did, they are why people are benefiting from X etc, even when that isn't strictly true.

I was surprised by how much I liked this show and how engaged I was in it.

The characters, and their relationship, are wonderful. They're so complex in such small quiet ways. It's an intimate story.
I do not get the grumbling about Wonder Man, it is a goddamn joy.

Some of the sharpest scripting and best acting in a Marvel series yet.

I was not as big a fan of LOKI and WANDA as many other Marvel-heads, but this one I adore.

They bought out movie theaters, right? To goose the numbers?
'Melania,' slammed by critics, makes history. What could it mean?
"Melania" was panned by critics. Still, the film made history, illustrating the divide between Hollywood and Trump's hold on his MAGA base.

Most of my dad's paternal side of the family came over from Ireland in the late 1850s.

Like tracing my paternal grandfather and both of his parents, and their parents, and their various spouses, etc. it's pretty much all people who came here in the late 1850s.

IDK about my paternal grandmother.
Genuinely curious: If your family is American, what brought them here?
Mine: religious nuttery & primogeniture

Wildly famous writer: anyone who’s ever said anything bad about me is a shitty journalist, I am the arbiter of good journalism, and it’s THIS:

this isn’t difficult:

Don’t fuck your students

Don’t fuck your clients

Don’t fuck your patients

Don’t fuck your interns

Don’t fuck your wife’s adopted adult children

this still leaves a lot of people you can fuck!
Before it gets lost in the noise:

Don’t fuck your employees.

Don’t fuck your 20-something employees.

Don’t fuck your 20-something employees who are currently depending on you for a place to live.

I had to check and the population density of Paris as a whole (19,440/sqkm)
exceeds the population density of even the densest Chicago neighborhood (Near North Side, 14,755.22/sqkm)
The *reason* people like Paris is that it's pretty, and that it has the entire population of Chicago in like 1/5 the area
The entire cities of Amsterdam (red), Paris (blue), and Barcelona (purple) can fit inside Chicago.

All borders use the same geographic scale (1:175000). The European cities have been rotated and/or flipped, but not resized.

Good Things In My Life, A Reminder To Myself:

My husband gave me an electric heater that fits in our 100+ year old fireplace surround and warms up the room and looks cool and cozy.

I have a full array of spices and two enameled cast iron dutch ovens.

My birthday is coming up.
