Chicago. Parent. Fat. Bisexual. Bipolar II. Loud. Still masking. Kind of cute if you squint. Nerdy, but in a way that's fairly socially acceptable now. I have a kid, Nikole, who is she/they and a spouse, N, who is he/him.

If you post queerphobic bullshit like "Elonia Musk" or two male politicians kissing or whatever then I'm blocking you.

You don't need to make "ewww gaaayyy" jokes about these dipshits. You can simply point to the actual harm they are actively doing. You don't need to make gay jokes period, in fact.

Everyone’s saying very good emo jokes about this guy but I would like to add that he looks like he’s at my con table in 2008, asking if I drew my comics myself
Was this very mid-2000s emo person press-ganged into ICE servitude?

I think often of the women in the Louis CK story—how they all left comedy and never went back, but he’s still going. It’s everywhere and it’s such a loss for them and for us—for things they’ll never make that we’ll never see.
the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

The best thing to happen to the Foundation series is that much better writers were allowed to have at it.

Ages ago, David Eddings had his publisher send us World Fantasy Award judges a cringy 16 page color pamphlet he'd clearly put together himself & then clumsily edited into third person about why he should win the lifetime achievement award, but also why his wife, who helped write the books should not
The topic of David Eddings came up at my table talk at Worldcon.

Half the folks around the table - a pretty heavily invested in genre group - didn't know.

And two of them didn't know about MZB.

I know people the memory of goldfish but ICE is still very much active here in Los Angeles, LAPD helps them most of the time, and people are still resisting. Local media is still covering it so follow @lataco.bsky.social

I wonder if there's a collection that focuses specifically on stories that informed later SFF culture (good or bad). Like Omelas, The Cold Equations, that sort of thing.

Actually a call-and-response for stories that have many responses would be a fun antho.

That would actually be handy! Not as an intro for younger readers, but maybe as a “Okay, so you like SF and want to get the references…”

(This is about comics, but this is not just about comics.)
And those, in turn, are the people who set the standards and tone of the industry with their participation and complicity.

Again, there are exceptions and people in power who push for change, and I'm glad. But they're not yet a plurality. (cont'd)

WE ARE SO BACK
With more than 3B riders, the NYC MTA remains by far America's busiest transit agency

But there was a big shakeup in the ranking of other major transit agencies in 2025, with Chicago's CTA reclaiming the #2 spot from LA Metro and DC's WMATA then bumping LA Metro to 4th place

My strongest Bathrooms Opinion is that instead of having mens and womens bathrooms there should have been Toilets Bathroom and Urinals Bathroom, gender neutral. Toilets and urinals.

While I have a lot of people's attention:

As some of y'all know, I volunteer at a women's shelter in Brooklyn. Over the time I've been there, a lot of women have approached me about starting a knitting/crocheting group.

The Big Barrier to this is that there is no money for supplies. (cont'd)

We had just been married for a few months when his story on Eddie Berganza broke, and for years after that, I saw him take jobs outside of comics because people in comics—people I liked and trusted to be good people!— told him they would never hire him because of that and similar work.

a lot of the young fashy trads on Asshole Catholic Twitter with, like, saint icon profile pics (the Jesus version of those Roman statuary guys) really got into this movement. I'm sure it existed before, on the way way fringes, but Pope Francis really brought all the boys to the yard so to speak

this is what I think is happening
having read this article, the vibe I am getting is Leo going slowly and carefully to get all his ducks in a row so when he finally torpedoes the whole trad cult he can do so saying “look at all the chances I gave them and compromises I tried to make, but they wouldn’t listen, what can you do 🤷‍♂️”

I am 43 and I don't make a living in comics anymore largely because I want the freedom to say things like this without trading it for my livelihood.

That's pretty fucked up.

Here is a thing:

There were several years when I was one of VERY few journalists seriously covering harassment and abuse issues in comics (and by extension sometimes video games). During that time, I became the Person People Told Things To.
