bad actors like wurman are why i think it is important to place the birthright clause in the full context of section 1 and section 1 in the context of both dred scott and the two decades of antislavery and abolitionist agitation and political thinking that proceeded it
The evidence is the text. All you have to do is read the Constitution.

don't worry, john roberts says this is a legitimate exercise of presidential power and if we did anything to curb it, we would be robbing the executive of the energy he needs to do his job
Trump rages that Henry Cuellar didn’t pay him back for a pardon by switching parties, blasting Cuellar for a “lack of LOYALTY.”

In other words, Trump admits he was trying to use his pardon power to buy Republicans a House seat.

My latest newsletter is about how centrist pundits got the lessons of the 2024 election wrong, and how the politics of 2025 exposed them.
The Pundits Were All Wrong
The Republican collapse has exposed elite pundits as clueless

the primary thing that TPUSA provides to young conservatives is a blueprint for weaponizing the abject cowardice of university administrators against individual teachers and instructors, and university admins should take a long look in the mirror and think about what that says about them
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Zohran Mamdani just made Thanksgiving with any MAGA relatives an effortless slam-dunk.

My favorite part of the Zohran-Trump exchange (outside of the really funny parts) is that Zohran was not smiling as he is known to constantly do. Says a lot!

they say Mamdani is a socialist when he's clearly the beneficiary of a system of massive rizz inequality.

Really enjoyed chatting with @michaelhobbes.bsky.social for this episode! In addition to being a delight to talk to, Michael was _extremely_ committed to getting the facts right & engaged very earnestly with our feedback. A scientist's dream.
Episode 46: Sapiens

It's an ambitious goal to write the entire history of humanity in just 400 pages. It's even more ambitious to do it without reading any research.

@gelliottmorris.com's piece on what Americans actually want from parties is fascinating. It also (re-)produces a classic finding: Almost no one is in the "socially liberal but economically conservative" bucket, but those who are have very popular Substacks

I was forced to sit through a talk with a self-identified "Raegan Republican" in his 70s who was adamant that the biggest obstacle to young people making political change is MILLENIALS.

I know it's a dead meme, but ok boomer.

Recently, a conservative told me that they felt like they couldn't talk in class because "you guys just have so many facts." Dawg, what??
