I have found my north star and it is Chungus State.
I will vote for the first candidate who tells me they're going to make the biggest government possible. Reacher-sized agencies. Braun Strowman-level social benefits. Government so big it starts belching out National Parks and free healthcare. Chungus State.

Middle line is all you really need to take away from this, it's about destroying alternative power structures as to maximize your own within an institution. Not at all aligned with the institution's goals, just one's own.

I was tagged a moment ago to talk with an activist and I’m blocked, once again, because someone put me on an AI list who doesn’t understand computer vision. I’m blocked by forty thousand people. I almost left, and it has made me stop sharing accessibility projects here. Big bummer. Sorry, I guess.

Trump's second term eviscerated regulatory autonomy. They even randomly fired Democratic commissioners.

This corruption WILL kill people and cause generational public harm, but it continues to receive less attention in the press than whatever brainfart Sam Altman has each morning
NEW: SCOTUS will hear arguments Monday on Trump’s attempt to fire the last Democratic FTC commissioner. A ruling for the president could dangerously expand his control over agencies regulating the economy, stock market, campaign finance and communications.

@handsoffnyc.bsky.social is training thousands of New Yorkers on how to protect their neighbors from ICE. Today, they are currently running two trainings in Brooklyn and the Bronx, both of which hit capacity because interest was so high.

This is the way, y’all—we protect each other, and we know it.

Notably, they did not *need* to comply with the order.

The president does not have the authority to compel their cooperation.

This is complying in advance and selling out one of the most vulnerable minority communities in America.
SCOOP: The United States Tennis Association (USTA) quietly updated its player eligibility policy to ban trans women from competing as women in their leagues, tournaments and competitions in order to comply with Trump's anti-trans sports executive order. The policy went into effect on Monday.

The truth is that there are many good people in good institutions regretfully making the choice to sacrifice trans people because they fear for their own survival and their institution's survival...

...and it is incumbent on us to show them that their choice is not without consequence.

I heard Trump has posted an insane # of posts in the last hour on Truth Social.

I don't care to know specifically whatever batsh*t crazy things he is saying.

But feel free to report back if grandpa is crashing hard and the end looks near.

I am one of the lucky humans reading it RIGHT NOW and it's so, so good. It's full of wonder, poetry, black holes, musings on language, sci-fi, messiness, and science as a verb. It feels like one of those wide-ranging dinner party conversations with your best friend that you remember years later.
It tried to kill me but I have finished the book. Second pass pages read through, final copy and line edits done.

Please read my book. I worked very hard on it. 😭 (Also read Legendborn, as you can see from the background, I’m a fan)

HFC is a network design that uses fiber optic cables to carry data, before switching to shielded coaxial copper cables to bridge the final distance. This delivers high-speed internet via existing cable TV lines, avoiding the need to install expensive fiber directly into every room.
