As you cancel streaming services, here is a casual reminder that only 16% of Americans read for pleasure anymore, and your local library has hundreds or thousands of books you haven't read.

They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.

It’s helpful if your tip is specific and includes evidence you can share that backs you up. This could be text messages, emails, documents, receipts, photos, reports, the identities of people who know more, and more.

If you're one of those "where are the protests" because the news has been ignoring them the past two months, there are 25,000 people gathered in DC today, and 20+ blocks full of people in Manhattan, and that's just two cities.

The protests have been happening; you're just being lied to again.

I just watched some of the livestream of a Cory Booker town hall from NJ and this man is *still* cooking. “You don’t have to stand for 25 hours but you have to stand” is how he ended it. That’s a bar. The base is properly riled up.

Republicans in Congress are hoping you won’t pay attention to them for the next 36 hours.

Why? Because they're pushing through their unpopular plan that gives tax handouts to billionaires and billionaire corporations and leaves everyone else in the dirt.

15 mile walk through a bleak-arse bit of Essex to the edge of Foulness Sands (actual name, did not invent).
I am now off to Froughtoughton-on-the-Mimble for my weekend minibreak. I will report back when I find the first corpse. I'm thinking "body in church after dispute over who sings the soprano solo at Midnight Mass" but it's Essex so there is room for "gangland shooting, body on bleak sands."
So Mr KJC and I are off for a weekend break. Just going to a tiny little place in Essex of the "Froughtoughton-on-the-Mimble" variety, a hamlet with a nice old pub, for the sake of a few pleasant walks....

"Don't Engage, Just Block" absolutely IS the Bluesky motto. The notion of a "Bluesky Elder" is vaguely ridiculous but the ONE THING that we oldheads are good for is telling the new folks that blocking without engagement is praxis, and encouraging them to do it early and often.
"Don't Engage, Just Block" should be the Bluesky motto.

We have a chance to start over and make this place better than the other place.
Just blocked a retail account that spammed itself and its products into an unrelated comment thread of mine, so, retail accounts, let that be a heads up, that sort of activity is not going to work out for you here. "Don't Engage, Just Block" applies to you too, if you do things like that.
