just a maxim for life - if you start a question with "why don't you just" you're both expressing your own ignorance and dismissing their experience. generally people didn't do the obvious-to-you thing for reasons and if you want to know those reasons there are more respectful ways to ask.

i think a lot of people on here are underestimating how powerful LLMs can be for coding, but i also want the whole enterprise to fail so i'm not going to argue about it too loudly

I believe this, but also I believe it will not slow AI adoption because the people making the decision to use AI are not the people who will have to do the increased work.
AI is best understood as an exercise in re-classifying skilled labor as unskilled labor, in order to pay less, to break unions

I still don’t believe the occupation will end this week or anytime soon but I think it’s worth all of us keeping in the back of our minds what we want “after” to look like. Hearings with testimony? Rebuilding and barn raisings? Will we fight that much harder for the homeless? Will we finally see
