I came down with a cold or something on Friday, spent the weekend sick in bed, woke up to immediately see a news story about the scholarship fund we've started in honor of my dead sister, and then found out my favorite aunt died. Starting to take this year personally.

Laura and I had a pre-scheduled road trip with my sister to Halifax to go see a play yesterday, so I haven't processed my baseball grief at all and now it's Monday and I have to work. Yikes.

This has been an absolutely hellish year for me and my family. The Jays coming out of nowhere and becoming an unstoppable baseball game winning machine powered by friendship and love absolutely saved me. I'm so sad I don't get to keep watching them.
2025 is in many ways the hardest year. You don't have to look far to find bad news. We are all carrying around a bad news box in our pockets. People are suffering. Things are expensive. Kindness. Decency. They seem to be all but dead.
