"Since becoming minister, Loewen has spent $37,600.79 on international trips promoting hunting and the Minister’s Special Licence — significantly more than previous ministers, who averaged about $5,445 annually."
Over and over. It seems his family materially benefits from his decisions. The mere appearance of conflict of interest should disqualify him from his cabinet position.

Not to be controversial but I think we should use tools and resources to make people's lives less miserable instead of more

There are museums & historical sites in my area that do "sleepovers" for groups (mostly kid targeted but anyone can do them with a group). The paleontology museum lets you sleep in the main exhibit hall! The ones I've been to have been awesome experiences.
A small thing that I think would make the world much better is a daily lottery system for one person/small family group to get to spend all night in big museums. Just every night, someone else gets the Field Museum or the Met or LACMA or the Legion of Honor all to themselves.

Canada’s oil sector is producing more with fewer workers – 35,000 jobs cut in a decade.

The long-term trend of aggressive cost- and job-cutting in the sector is pause for thought for those considering the economic benefits of new pipelines.

I've been spending a lot of time with someone in the ICU (since mid August). Today, first time, I saw a room with a "N95 Required" sign. And the sliding glass door to the room? Open.
So glad there's any effort to contain the pathogen to said room 🙄

The backstory makes the name even more problematic. They can't seriously believe it makes it better because they were named after a racist's nickname, can they?
The Kansas City “Chiefs” mascot name came from the nickname of H. Roe Bartle the former Mayor of Kansas City who had created a cosplaying boy scout group called “Tribe of Mic-o-Say” in the 1920s. [Published 2024]

I guess that in the US many still think that this is a nasty episode and that the dems will sort it out. That they haven't realized yet how impaired the system is, how inequality is reaching paroxysm, how it's all connected with deregulation and political corruption.

It would be great if drs would recognize this when we request documentation for things.
For the vast majority of ppl I know (& myself) they pushed themselves past a breaking point before even inquiring about assistive measures.
Invisible disabilities exist.

Dynamic disability is a thing.

Ambulatory wheelchair users are a thing.

Accommodations and assistive devices are not always static.

Sometimes they’re needed in certain situations and not others.

We know our bodies best and don’t deserve to be questioned.

This is how a company can ethically respond when their IP is co-opted by the Trump regime. When it's released on social media, enough ppl see it, you're not going to make it "worse".
Still waiting for a certain star to condemn use of IP, even if no legal action can be taken.

Nicely summarizes how the Carney government’s thoughtless, reckless AI strategy will reduce government capacity while making government more dependent on foreign tech firms.
As with a lot of things with this government, it comes down to a refusal to think about long-term governance issues.
