The Luddites created & practiced what was called "collective bargaining through riot" which is probably one of the coolest phrases ever coined about any movement ever

Of all my little indulgences, what a pleasure it is to have a library of my own. Of the books that I want and want to reread. When half remember a quote, something Gandalf said to Thorin in the Unfinished Tales, what a joy to be able to get up and find it.

We got another one, folks
My friend surprised me with a copy of Hellwhalers from the @plusoneexp.bsky.social booth at GenCon which inspired me to pick up this copy of Moby-Dick at the thrift store today.

if this actually goes hot you'll have protesters in different cities intentionally playing rope-a-dope with the fed army

get rowdy in one city until they're at saturation then go back indoors and let somebody 3000 miles away carry the torch

they CANNOT enact martial law on the entire country

The United States is currently a country where you can be kidnapped by secret police and shipped off to a slave labour concentration camp without ever being charged with a crime or getting a chance to argue your case in front of a judge.

If you think it can't happen to you, why do you think that?
It sure looks like they’re going all in on the “the executive branch can ignore court orders if it thinks the court lacks jurisdiction” thing

I genuinely don't understand how anyone can look at the current moment and think "Abolish ICE" was anything but completely correct.

ICE cannot and should not exist. Period.

While I appreciate a lot of the insights within Climate Leviathan, I can't help but feel like the conclusion would have been more poignant if the authors knew that Climate X is just the means and ends of anarchism.

If the government makes an error, and a bad thing happens, and the government blames the bad thing on the corrupting influence of racial minorities, then you are being ruled by Nazis. Do I actually need to explain this?

the weirdest part about trump being elected is that it always makes people finally say things that have always been true

trump is a fascist who is irreparably harming the world. its horrific. but the one positive i guess is that some people finally *get* it

if only that could happen without him
Everyone should live the next four years with the assumption that the Federal Government at best doesn’t care if you live and at worst actively wants you dead

my siblings in christ, you read the art within your own political framework, and all that somesuch; it's you, it's always been you; like yeah the tv is made with an underlying set of beliefs but you're the radicals stop doubting your own power
Expecting any television show to have radical politics will only lead to disappointment

Does anybody have strong opinions on the reading order of Elric of Melnibone? I've read "Elric of Melniboné" first, and I'm told Fortress of the Pearl comes next chronologically, but I'm open to being swayed.
