The vice signalers' fallacy
There's got to be a word for a fallacy where someone assumes a rule or a norm that sounds humanitarian must be entirely divorced from pragmatic logic.

The Trump administration is obviously a common offender, but it's not the only one.

NEW: These are ICE agents removing evidence from the shooter's home. They are not DOJ, they are Jonathan Ross's friends and coworkers, not DOJ.

This agent removing Ross's personal computer was reported yesterday Jan 9 for boxing in a volunteer and telling them "I'll dedicate my next arrest to you"

They are hunting wine moms now, because the thought of middle aged women not knowing their place enrages them.
The MAGA regime is currently doubling down on its tactical stance of “we will kill women like dogs for merely displeasing us.”

We are the Merchant Adventurers' Hall - a medieval guild hall in York.

What we lack in serious museum content we make up for in big roof energy. 👇

Ah yes, the Kavanaugh stop. A brief law enforcement encounter that lasts a mere *checks notes* 25 days.
The Department of Homeland Security released a Maryland woman who was held for 25 days despite evidence that her lawyers say proves she was born in the United States and is a citizen.
After 25 days, ICE releases Maryland woman who says she is a U.S. citizen
Dulce Consuelo Diaz Morales was detained in December despite her legal team’s claims that she was born in the United States.

Texas universities are no longer actual schools where people can go to learn. They have ceased being universities.

No sign of this being remotely true, by the way

Like correct me if I'm wrong, but the entire """"narcoterrorism"""" pretext hinged on there being an Actual Group called Cartel de los Soles
My feelings are so strange right now. This is simultaneously the funniest thing I've ever read, and I am also absolutely incandescent with rage.
it's going Great as the Trump admin has to admit they made up a cartel

WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

Possibly the sole advantage to living in a household where I'm seemingly the only person whose vision isn't almost totally dependent on motion... is that they all stopped registering the existence of the fudge in the fridge after day one.

You ever think about how the Roman Senate kept meeting centuries into the reigns of emperors. Hanging out, shooting the shit, giving speeches, and play-acting that their positions of privilege remained positions of power.

"Maduro is a brutal authoritarian dictator," I wisely intone, as the corrupt demented paedophile US President violating Constitutional Law while operating a gestapo and concentration camps illegally arrests a foreign leader on charges which read like they were written on a paper placemat in crayon.

The reason you go scorched-earth on this is the same reason we should have gone scorched-earth on impoundment; you can't stop it from happening, but you absolutely need to stop it from becoming a normal part of politics. You have to draw a line.

And to think he could have just bought Trump coins.
