I wonder if people in, I don't now, the Senate could take action, Senator @chrismurphyct.bsky.social?? What do you plan to do in response to this particular instance of rampant law-breaking?
The message from Trump is crystal clear - if you beat the hell of out police, if you threaten to kill FBI officers - I will make sure you get away with it if you are breaking the law to keep me in power.

It should be very clear to every Senate Democrat that any vote for Cloture will also be considered a vote for the bill.
People aren’t going to be tricked with procedural games.

This feels like a major inflection point. If ICE can apparently unlawfully arrest & disappear a permanent resident and it is not immediately met with strong opposition from the public, officials, and courts, there is no going back.
UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is.
They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there.
They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

They run them bc people react to them the most.
If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

The problem with studying political violence for a living is that I can imagine far darker scenarios than Orban's Hungary. America's own history suggests a greater reliance on coercion and violence. Orban's Hungary might be the ceiling, not the floor, of Trump's America
The Orban model (which Trump explicitly embraces) is exactly what we have to guard against
