every year on patriots' day we commemorate the “here comes the pizza” incident from 2007, in which don orsillo and the late great jerry remy grow increasingly deranged trying to understand the motives of the man who hurled a slice of pizza at a guy attempting to catch a foul ball

While many of us have met people with the 10.0 names of Tim, Gay without the ?, Aja, and Abbey (if we are allowing partials), I failed all of us when I was unable to convince my friend with the last name Colling to name her son "London"
On FB I said I'd call my firstborn Superunknown, but I'd also go for "In Times New Roman..." as well, curious what others would have 🤭

now even the drugs are convenient
I used to joke that America's 2nd-favorite drug was convenience (our favorite drug? Drugs). But in the post-vax era, convenience took the lead by a wide margin. Maybe we need commercials warning us about its brutal emotional/societal side effects, most of which we're not anywhere near prepared!

I’m 49 years old. When they played Mony Mony at my school dances Billy Idol would say “Here she comes now say Mony Mony” and then everyone would scream something profane in the musical interlude, to the beat. Do any of you have this same memory and if so what did you all yell? Want to compare notes.

It's funny, I was thinking about this one because it's totally the closest made basket to that Rider shot (that I've ever seen anyway). It's not as long as Rider's but it is very, very similar in how completely ridiculous it is that it went in.
This very similar "shot" by Eric Murdock in 1995 is arguably just as crazy.

I'm excited that #Pond and #Fazerdaze have traveled from the Antipodes to play at the legendary @firstavenue.bsky.social this weekend, and by some wild coincidence/serendipity/synchronicity, they happen to be the 1st 2 artists I liked on Spotify after signing up in 2017. That's totally bananas!

If you are looking for a darker-yet-propulsive version of modern yacht rock, "Lone Star" by southern Cali band The Hayds will be your next favorite song. Damn, the way it builds, if it existed in the 1970s, Robert Altman would have placed it one of his films www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE66...

A fave track from '24 is "Worry" by Aussie band Ixaras, which is evidence that those who had our 1st dance to "Hanging By A Moment", "When We Were Young", Pernice's "7:30", or "The Middle" now have kids who are writing incredible songs. The last 40 seconds? WOW! www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgP3...

If you are a baseball geek, check out Wilbur Wood's stats. From 1971-75, he completed 99 of 224 starts (!?), pitched 1680 innings (!!), won 106 games (!!!), facing 6,898 batters (WTF?). In '71, his ERA was 1.91 while pitching 334 innings - was he some sort of superhero? rb.gy/cwuq2g

No way to disprove this but I feel like the "weird" thing really took hold because it coincided with the Olympics, when normal people were marveling at human achievement but conservatives, whose only remaining settings are sadism and misery, were just snarling about trans people and blasphemy.

The problem with conservatives is that it's become absolutely pointless to try to engage in good faith arguments about stuff they actually did and said, because they don't care. None of it lands. They just call it fake news.

Scorn and mockery is what those couch fuckers need and deserve.
