I put a lot of work into this. I would be so happy if you would read and share:

Why moving to the center won't save democrats:

Moderation is overrated
In 2024, moderate candidates for the U.S. House barely outperformed the average partisan

I have a friend who is an exvangelical and she put it very succinctly: “We don’t believe anyone else is human. You are not people to us.”

Once you understand this CORE BELIEF and put it into context with the fact that these folks are running our country you can understand clearly their motivations.
This is expected from apocalypse cult Christians. Non-evangelicals are non-human and they exist only to die. Everyone “perishing from the earth” is the goal! “People are gonna die” is a success for them!

“I thought people understood” is the big giveaway. “You didn’t know your death is the plan??”

when i was a child, my family took CHIP and food stamps. this shaped my entire orientation toward government programs (positive) in a way most pundits don't have access to. and also, not to brag, but i think my siblings and i are proof that the ROI on feeding children is very high
There is not a single congressional district in the U.S. where more than 15% of voters support cuts to SNAP, the federal program that provides food assistance to millions of low-income Americans.

I don’t think Dems are stuck bcuz of polls. Polls are telling them to fight Trump and fundamentally change the way we build in this country, especially on housing. In power, Dems can’t push change because of money, the Senate, and status quo bias. Now they are fighting to keep basic services funded
Why are Dems—champions of every major policy advance since the New Deal—so deeply wedded to status-quo, poll-tested politics? The answer lies in Stafford Beers' 5-level Viable Systems Model: They lack Systems 4 & 5 dealing with future coordinating it with present. 1/25

Why the Democrats are still stuck in the past
Democrats were once the party of progress — but in the 21st century, they seem paralyzed. Let me explain

years of research yet no real-world use found for 4k textures

wanted good graphics anyway, as a joke? we had a tool for that: it was called imagining that the game looked like the manual art

Pete Buttigieg going on right wing platforms and not giving an inch is a million times more productive than Gavin Newsom inviting right wingers to his platform and letting them walk all over him.

I think all but one of the car enthusiasts I know are pretty outspoken on urbanist issues. I think we all see our own cars as lovely expressions of global culture at a specific moment in time but also as ontologically evil death machines birthed by companies beholden to Satan that destroy societies.
I often encounter "car guys" in urbanist spaces. They dislike cities being traffic sewers in the same way that a lover of music might dislike Top 40 music being piped in 25% too loud into every restaurant. When you appreciate something, you recognize it has a time and place.
Matt Farah is one of the most powerful auto influencers in the world. The Smoking Tire, his media platform, has an audience of millions.

Farah owns seven cars -- but he is also a fiery supporter of bike lanes, walkability, and upzoning.

Vance’s favorite demagogic tactic, which he brings to every argument, is to reshape his opponent’s position in an absurdly extreme and preposterous way so he gets to argue with a fictitious person who doesn’t exist. It would take one phone call from Trump - everyone knows that.

I keep saying this.. there's two sides to the "tech world". there's a lots of trans people and furries who actually do the shit that keeps things running, and there's a bunch of "libertarian" "entrepreneurs" who couldn't write a shell script or configure a router to save their own lives.
every b2b saas company is like 20% trans and has employees who donate a trillion dollars to democrats every cycle and then their ceo and founder is like “i am technohitler”
