The bloody airbag. The stuffed animals in the glovebox. All the kindness and courage of the victim, all the cruelty of the murderer. What a waste, what a failed country.

Aw man 😞 Rest in peace Mr Cheifet, host of Computer Chronicles: obits.goldsteinsfuneral.com/stewart-chei...

What a legend. His work in both presenting and preserving the early days of computer history has been (and will continue to be) deeply appreciated! My condolences to his family and friends.

Someone has lifted the QuickTimeVR movie files from 1994's "Star Trek: The Next Generation Interactive Technical Manual", upscaled them then built an in-browser replica of the ITM's "Tour" module. mijofr.github.io/st-panorama/

"Did you see what Mark Cuban posted? Oh did you see the clapb—"

You shake yourself awake in the cold North Atlantic water. You are not online. It is July of 1858. You are a baleen whale, and you have changed your mind. The future most not come to pass. The telegraph cable must break.

Closing out my year with a journal editor shocker 🧵

Checking new manuscripts today I reviewed a paper attributing 2 papers to me I did not write. A daft thing for an author to do of course. But intrigued I web searched up one of the titles and that's when it got real weird...

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

I found this season of Strange New Worlds kind of pitchy and disappointing. I think the problem is that Star Trek used to be about something—philosophy or science or baseball or whatever. Now it’s just about Star Trek.

"Gavin Newsom is America's Keir Starmer" is perhaps the most devastating thing that has ever been or could ever be said about an American.
Seeing people in the US of States glazing Newsom's dank memes and being all "Gavin slayyyy" is giving Starmer Fever 2024 and, American pals, it's equally embarrassing to witness.

I visited #iran in 2019. It is a breathtakingly beautiful country with some of the warmest and most compassionate people I have ever met. Seeing the destruction in Teheran is heartbreaking.

I won't have a kind word for the regime, but as usual, it's the people who suffer for its follies.

'The sports car is back!' proclaimed Mazda at the launch of the new MX-5, and it really did seem like a seminal moment: the reinvention of the of the traditional roadster driving experience, combined with the build quality and reliability of the 1990s. This is the first UK brochure. #weirdcarbs
