I also love America and believe in its stated values.

And I understand that this pronouncement lands very differently when it comes from an organization that has intentionally been overhauled in order to curry favor with a jingoistic proto-fascist who says his opponents hate the country.
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”

An AI chatbot does not have PERSONHOOD. It has no agency. It cannot meaningfully apologise. It cannot speak on behalf of another. It cannot speak for itself; it has no self. Stop asking it for quotes for articles. Stop printing its quotes.

Having Grok issue an “apology” is not just insulting and stupid (obviously Grok cannot actually “regret” anything, deeply or otherwise) but cowardly: It asks us to assign responsibility to an unconscious piece of software rather than the humans and institutions who should actually be blamed.

I frequently criticize the Times on various fronts. With great size/power comes great responsibility. But it's always important to remember that really only they have the resources and capacity to put stuff like this together. These are like genome maps of the Trump corruption machine.

like 75% of dem messaging right now should be “the party led by epsteins best friend is breaking into pre-k childcare centers so they can record your toddlers and put the videos on internet”
uhhh yeah I can see why these childcare properties weren't eager to let in some rando dudes asking "where are the kids?"

After your Ta-Nehisi Coates "interview", I was out.
Different perspectives?
Variety of opinions?
All that sounds good until you realize it's code for trying to pass a lie off as fact.
Some folks liked to be lied to, but most of us don't.
I feel like the lie has already started with this post.

Sorry, CBS, but I’ve just had enough of Tony and his right wing bias that I watched Monday through Friday. Now he’s going to be on CBS evening news and I cannot trust what will be reported. I trusted John Dickerson, but now I’ve decided to stop watching CBS News mornings, evenings, and Saturdays.

This fits with politics re-aligning along a pro-social / anti-social axis
I don't have any scientific evidence for this, but in my experience from (lots of) door-knocking, people who don't control their dogs properly are much more likely to be right-wing
I don't dislike dogs to be clear. But I really really dislike how many dog owners allow their dogs to foul the streets and to yap at people and scare kids and still expect everyone to think their precious little pooch is such a good dog 14/10 whatever

The Right is now an unfathomably complete black hole for dignity and peace.

I just can't believe how cheaply they sold themselves.
