Amusing to think that magazines spent nearly four years (the game came out Oct 85) talking about Deja Vu as an adventure filled with pointing and clicking, or played with a "Mac interface", before someone finally wrote "point-and-click adventure". We did get close a couple of times, though.
From Macworld December 1986. Best Adventure Game: Deja Vu Let me first confess that I’m a bit jaded by the adventure format. All too often, the puzzle-solving aspect of the game overwhelms the literary possibilities. Deja Vu avoids that shortcoming. Aside from its debt to the fibn noir tradition, it discards verbal pretensions and lets you mouse-and-window your way to a solution to a hard-boiled murder tale. (I’m only assuming there is a solution, because 1 haven’t found it yet.) By eliminating typed responses in favor of points and clicks, Deja Vu plays into the hands of those who charge that computer games will lead us into the postliterate era. Still, I prefer it to other games in which the adventure lies in guessing which vocabulary words the game understands. The beginning of a Shadowgate review from CGW November 1987. The key sentences are: "Players simply click on their command choice from the menu and then on the object selected to perform the command upon. These icon-based adventures are perfectly suited to the Mac screen."

This thread applies to far more than just gaming. If you have a public-facing facility and aren't asking people who display antisocial behaviors to leave, pretty soon all you are going to have are the antisocial customers.

I spent an excessive number of years moderating a gaming forum and I learned a great deal about community spaces and cultivation, whether I wanted to or not. I have critical advice for anyone who runs a game store or gaming convention. Please share this thread with people who run those things.

We reject their disputes as unsubstantiated, nitpicking or willful misreads. We have added minor clarifications at two points in the interview alongside the transcript, which remains as published. We stand by our reporting of the interview with Sweeney, former editor and 11-year veteran of the Times. The Times also provided TNN a statement responding to the interview, which we have declined to publish due to its inclusion of overt transphobia (such as framing the existence of trans people as “fiercely contested medical and legal debates”). Even in their PR, it seems that the Times can't stop denigrating our lives and communities. We do not have an obligation to publish damage control on the behalf of a news outlet undergoing a legitimacy crisis because of their own actions.

Rev3 had been acquired by Discovery so we were encouraged to do “Shark Week” episodes for our shows. On the Friday before SW we were told by Discovery’s lawyers that we didn’t have permission to use the Shark Week branding and we had to edit it out of everything we shot.

Bret Gardner, 47, was convicted of securities fraud — untrue statement or omission by a Boulder County jury following a five-day trial last week. Gardner is due to be sentenced Oct. 4. The securities fraud charge is a Class 3 felony and could carry a prison sentence of four to 12 years. According to an arrest affidavit, Rod Brandenburg, the owner of Grandpa’s Pawn & Gun, came to the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office in 2013 to report Gardner. Brandenburg said Gardner approached him at this store in March 2012 about investing in a series of books based around a character called the “Scoundrel” written by an Oregon ghostwriter named Brad Haga. A packet promoting the book said the series centered around Thomas Edward “T.E.” Scoundrel, who “mixes it up with the greatest saints and the sinners of the day,” while he also “romances some of the most beautiful women of the age, including a Charleston ingenue, a silent film actress, Chicago’s only female meat packing tycoon and a Native American princess.”
