today @prismreports.org is launching its partnership with Visualizing Palestine, featuring this reporting on media bias from the incredible Laura Albast. i'm proud as hell of prism's work every day, but i'm especially proud of this; please give it a read. prismreports.org/2025/09/09/j...
Journalists say U.S. newsrooms treat Palestine with fear and contempt
A Prism investigation reveals pro-Israel bias at the leadership levels of mainstream U.S. newsrooms, which intensified after Oct. 7, 2023

I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

Bray is a historian at Rutgers who received death threats after landing on Turning Points USA's Professor Watchlist. As a result, he announced he was moving to Europe. And then this happened.

This kind of harassment and abuse of scholars is Charlie Kirk's legacy and it's only getting worse.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

Man if this isn't the perfect quote re Weiss: “She plays to an audience of 200 people,” one Hollywood executive with ties to Weiss told Variety. “It just happens to be that audience is made up of people like Jeff Bezos and Bill Ackman. The superrich f------ love her"

have said this before but i am very skeptical about weiss’s vaunted charisma

Bari Weiss, the incoming editor in chief of CBS News, once auditioned for a role on the hit daytime television show "The View," but tested so poorly with audiences that she "wasn't invited back," according to a new report.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

This is really blatant pro-Nazi rhetoric, but also the House Un-American Activities Committee following WWII considered it suspicious for people to have been anti-fascist before Pearl Harbor. So like…not new

"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

Leni Riefenstahl lived long enough to see Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The last surviving Civil War Widow died of COVID-19. President John Tyler (1841-1845)'s last surviving grandson died 5 months ago. Donald Trump's mentor was the attorney in charge of McCarthyism.

a bksy dev following the Heritage Foundation would be an unpleasant surprise if you didn't know this place was created by and for libertarian crypto bros, and all the good things about it are an unintended consequence they have been trying to "fix" for the last year

Bondi: "Bondi: "Just like we did with cartels, we are going to take the same approach, President Trump, with antifa -- destroy the entire organization from top to bottom. We are going to take them apart."

If the "how can you post about SPORTSBALL when we're LIVING under FASCISM" scolds paid attention to sportsball, they'd know what happens when a manager tries to get through a series using only his high-leverage relievers. There's no better example of why you can't go through life in panic mode 24/7

(best improv Goose Vehicles i've seen were 1) Large Cardboard Snacks Carton from Costco and 2) laundry basket. i can't remember what kind of potato chip it was, but it was a box that had held Many Potato Chips before and then an indignant goose popped out and that was v fun for me personally)

it does sound like this guy is able to feed/fend for himself so not at a stage where intervention would be required — rn in OR we're only allowed to provide humane euthanasia to adult waterfowl bc of bird flu, & it sounds like this goose is makin it work! hopefully that makes you feel better too 🧡
yashwinacanter.bsky.social
we're lucky to partner with these guys and work closely with them for cases where the good samaritan is unable to provide transport (often due to disability, job requirements, lack of a vehicle, etc), & maybe there is an equivalent near you! occrapdx.org

just wanted to offer another perspective! i know "pls catch goose" sounds daunting but i promise that you aren't in it alone and rehabbers at these orgs will absolutely help you if you decide to intervene 🧡
yashwinacanter.bsky.social
mostly it's just hard when we want to help, but wildlife rescue orgs v rarely have the resources to operate Bird Taxi — we *do* depend on good samaritans taking time to contain & bring in injured animals, & it's a bummer when folks act annoyed that we need their help/participation beyond just a call
yashwinacanter.bsky.social
that way you aren't directly handling Angry Goose haha (unfortch rn, OR fish & wildlife dept currently has a ban on our care center treating adult waterfowl like geese, but i promise these orgs frequently see geese & handle geese & they will talk you through how to do it safely! they want to help!)
yashwinacanter.bsky.social
i'm on the flip side of these convos a lot when i volunteer on the phones at BAO, and one option is to come back with 2 big cardboard boxes (one broken down, one assembled) and put the assembled box over the top of the goose and slide the broken down box underneath, bug in a cup style!
