“Dutch people cycle an average of 2.6km each per day. If this pattern was replicated worldwide, annual carbon emissions would drop by 686 million tonnes.

This mammoth figure exceeds the entire carbon footprint of most countries, including the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia.” @euronews.com
Cycling like the Dutch would slash the world’s carbon footprint
If everybody cycled like the Dutch, we could offset the UK or Australia’s entire carbon footprint.

MnDOT should quantify how much poison will be spewed, how racially disparate the death & suffering, how many young brains they want to fry, how much cancer is acceptable, before settling on a course to rebuild or expand an urban interstate.

This is all true but

1) under no definition are we currently at war with Venezuela under domestic US law

2) since we aren’t, the initial strike was just as much a murder as the follow up

The failure to understand this by a huge range of actors is really driving me up the wall.
If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.

If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

It’s that simple.

Maannn, I don’t like when people screenshot young people learning a thing for the first time. That’s a thing they get to be a little embarrassed about one time and then someone corrects them. That’s a normal thing.

This is one of the best accounts I’ve read and I wish every newspaper would run it and every college would invite students to a community conversation where it would be read out and students given space and time to talk and think about it.

But, at least, you can read it.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

We have to keep shoveling all money, labor, water, and the environment into this mulcher so it will one day attain sentience and solve climate change, the first of which is impossible and the latter is a problem we have known the cause of and solution to for over a hundred years
is it better for countries to invest in boring things like transport and energy infrastructure or should they invest all their money in useless chatbots that talk in reddit-voice on the vague and completely unsubstantiated hope that they'll be able to do something profitable one day

The 8 who "broke" did so with the complete blessing of Schumer and their colleagues. You don't have to play along because this is not a game. The end

Most of y’all are old enough to remember but it bears repeating, Democrats couldn’t peel off a single member of the Republican caucus in the initial fight to enact the ACA, even after they watered down the plans to attract them.

Republicans got 8 Democrats in what’s essentially a vote to repeal.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting
