in college I had an airplane project that I had to build but I couldn’t hack it and I presented a windmill instead

I somehow got a C and never thought that experience would be relevant again.
Incredible scenes here: Boom Supersonic is raising $300mm and pivoting to AI by signing a contract to supply its turbines as electrical power for data centers. They're even talking about converting turbines from simple to combined cycle via a "field upgrade". This is all deranged.

it's always funny when a cis woman who doesn't even pass is trying to downplay a policy that revolves around harassing people who don't pass
Staggering arrogance and stupidity from McDonnell. We all know what sex we are. There's no reason for men to break the law and use women's single-sex spaces. They can simply respect women's boundaries or can be told to leave. Women matter in society, law, culture, politics ... and elections!

A lot of lives could have been saved if the administration did this instead of killing real people in the Caribbean. All they wanted was the video anyways.
The latest trend in Facebook’s ever downward spiral down the AI slop toilet are AI deportation videos. And the Facebook algorithm is rewarding creators for it. @jasonkoebler.bsky.social reports.

I am not joking when I say that these people changed my position on Capital Punishment. I lived in Boston when the marathon was bombed and I didn't like the death sentence in that case, but these guys keep gleefully keep racking up the body count and it's bringing out the worst in me.
They’re killing people as a twitter joke. It’s depraved. Can’t let yourself lose the capacity to be appalled and disgusted and outraged by this.

This is genocidal logic, but it's also just deeply embarrassing magical thinking. The "facts & logic" crowd insists I can't be a woman because they've convinced themselves that would require some woo woo notion of "gender identity", but they find this fucking volksgeist nonsense totally plausible?

I mean you could drag an appeal out for a year, easy. That way you’re not faced with litigation of the embarrassingly meritorious vindictive prosecution motions or any of the other trash-fire elements of this; you get to litigate a dry statutory interpretation issue.

This is the opposite of what’s real. Every country has standard state run universities.
Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.

There’s a whole lot of political thought made up from nothing more than “We’ve got to put these people on that land, then make them stay there.”

It’s everywhere. There might even be some aspects of it that you like. And yet it’s always hostile in practice to individual and even communal dignity.

The idea that location is important in housing is one of the least controversial ideas in human history. I have no idea why anyone is even trying to dispute this.
people do in fact prize location very highly, as demonstrated by the fact that people are not moving to random houses in the middle of nowhere

Lol everyone from random places gets to call cities hellholes because we let gay people live here and the moment we hit back we're being contemptuous
Yeah a big part of the problem here is that highly online YIMBYs just regard all these places as unlivable hellholes that people only buy houses in because they’re priced out of NYC. Look at all the contemptuous nicknames they have for the places where 75% of Americans actually live!
