This is just Cluetrain on meth. But the meth is maple syrup flavored so you don't know it's killing you.

Anyway, David should remember the words of his old Cluetrain colleague, Christopher Locke: voice is what happens when you shitcan the coverup.

Slop is not voice.

When I was back in the UK after my mum dies I helped my dad tidy and threw a bunch of old out of date books in recycling, guides to photoshop 3 and such, and also a bunch of my old books that i guess had ended up with him when i moved to the US. Cluetrain was one of them...

Gotta pay the bills somehow.

God that Cluetrain thing though. Marketers were all "This is SO GREAT and REVOLUTIONARY" and I just looked at it and said "this is fucking creepy".

Minns' need to rely on notes to discuss the Intifada tells me how much he is lacking in nous.

Like, here comes the cluetrain, Chris, rides are free.

A suitably soberer "Cluetrain Manifesto" for a more beleaguered time resonantcomputing.org the key will be insuring that those who work by such principles can protect them from long-term contact with the VC system and its incentives
The Resonant Computing Manifesto
Technology should bring out the best in humanity, not the worst—a manifesto for resonant computing built on five principles that reject hyper-scale extraction for human flourishing.

Cluetrain Manifesto in shambles #docsearls
I’m old enough to remember when the promise of the internet was the removal of middlemen and now it exists solely to create, maintain, and multiply middlemen
We wrap our affordability series with a look at the hidden economic culprits of the cost of living crisis: middlemen. They sit in between transactions and take their profit, raising costs for everyone else. And their interventions can even turn deadly. @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social reports:

It's the other way around. LLMs are adept at content-free PR speak, so PR needs to adapt to avoid being mistaken for LLM slop. IMO.

This is not that different from the old Cluetrain Manifesto. Authentic voices don't sound like LLMs.

When Chris Locke (who was an early and vicious critic of AI and expert systems) said "Markets are conversations," he had no idea, in a way that I'm sure would make him laugh his ass off if he were with us today. 🍻

(It might not have been Locke who said that, but it was one of those Cluetrain guys.)

The article consistently spells it with a small "a" (even in the Ted Cruz quote where you know HE's thinking it in all caps), so at least for this one NPR's already got a seat on the cluetrain.

In 1999, The Cluetrain Manifesto said “markets are conversations.”

In 2025, those conversations are bots, filters, and noise.

What happened to the promise of the internet?

The Cluetrain Manifesto shook marketing in 1999. Twenty-five years on, its lessons and blind spots still matter.

Does anyone know what is going on with the website for The Cluetrain Manifesto? I have used the website (cluetrain dot com) for class reading for over a decade now and it appears to be not working. Would be sad to lose that material; it's always been Week 1 reading for my Internet Culture class. 🫤
