Critical thinking and problem solving absolutely in the toilet, everything they use is app based, can’t unzip a file, can’t search their own documents, every couple years all the UIs change and hide more and more of the settings…

"the only essential skills are strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for public service"

LOL, no. The only essential skills are loyalty to Trump and a willingness to commit crimes for his benefit.

Methinks AI fans don’t know what readers want. They get that AI is supposed to give us more of what we want, and faster, but it doesn’t work that way. And some writers may appreciate the distraction of writing and the feeling of accomplishment that solving a problem or finishing a book brings.

Let's not forget that prototypes and placeholders are MEANT TO LOOK UGLY. Your main task here is *problem solving*. That's the whole point!

Yep. I actually feel fortunate to have been a latchkey kid who had to figure things out for themselves. If I wanted to do something or faced obstacles I had to make it happen or it wasn’t happening and, as such, was able to really hone my resilience, improvisational and problem solving skills.

i mean that's kind of a crux: is it solving a problem? or is it just a shiny new tool that adds friction? from what i've heard, it's the latter, but idk how those data look in corporate games lol

Using gen ai for text and asset placeholders is not solving a problem; games have been made for decades with regular placeholders. studios using AI this way are just testing the water to see what more they can get away with - which will inevitably mean laying off skilled workers, to make worse games

To get it outta the way:

It's a matter of _fact_ that overwork causes burnout, and burnout will fuck your ability to do anything, especially anything that requires creative problem solving, self-motivation, or lateral thinking. There's plenty of literature on this if you want to learn more

All of this is to say: How can we trust a non-thinking and untrustworthy entity to make purchases, secure reservations, and even find information when the tool its working with is barely functional? It requires hundreds of micro problem solving decisions to do most clerical things now.

I for one never have a problem having ideas. They come faster than I can write them down most times. I've lost count of the ones I've had to abandon.
Because the capital and time to execute on them outside of my day job is a whole different thing. The thing AI was allegedly solving, and hasn't.

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

Guess what? If you can’t come up with an idea to fix the problem after 15 years then you’re either incapable of solving it or the solution is impossible.

For the GOP it’s the latter because the problem they’re trying to solve is “how to convince people it’s ok if we don’t care about them.”
Q: You guys were out for 2 months during the shutdown. Why has it taken until the end of the year to start addressing these healthcare bills? And what's your message to those who are going to see their premiums rise?

MIKE JOHNSON: We have been working steadily producing ideas trying to address this

“The main trouble with the whole spirit/matter, soul/body problem is that it is not soluble. It is what used to be called a mystery. It is a modern error to take mysteries literally; that is, to turn them into problems which then have to be solved. We cannot solve mysteries ...”

The "exclusive" cafe didn't pass my vibe check, so I’m disrupting this artisan petroleum lounge. Same tiles, better lighting, and the smell of raw hustle (gasoline). It's lonely at the top of the pump. ⛽️📸 #IndustrialChic #FuelingSuccess #InfluencerProblems
