Western social sciences claimed the first. But Fanon & Memmi argued colonization by the West left many in the Global South with colonial mentality—internalized oppression.

Remember: The recipe for economic growth isn’t tax cuts for the rich. It’s investment in our people — in health care, infrastructure and education — to build a strong middle class.

You don't grow the economy through trickle-down nonsense.

Extremely interesting. I am in Brazil now and have learned that evangelicals here, led by Silas Malafaia (loosely translated from the Latin as "evildoer," my translation), played a huge role in Bolsonaro's rise to power.

There is no moral equivalence between bullies and the bullied, between tyranny and democracy, or between brutality and decency. No individual can be free in a society devoid of justice. There can be no liberty where brutality reigns.

“We must all insist that the practices essential to academic freedom and University autonomy — especially, here, the principle that subject matter experts, not legal counsel, determine curriculum and academic programs — cannot be discarded for political convenience.”
GOLDBLATT, LEVY, WILLIAMS: What does it mean for U.Va. to follow the advice of legal counsel?

"This is considered impolite to point out in many mainstream venues, but to be a Republican in good standing today, you have to believe, or at least go along with, an insane amount of lies."

Firing the BLS Director for reporting monthly jobs data institutionalizes that lying, imposing it on others.

Firing the top labor statistics official for doing the normal monthly jobs report is only the last attempt to force everyone else to abandon reality too

Good question, Gordon. Today's "conservatism" in the US is really right-wing extremism, increasingly resembling fascism. They do not seem interested in "conserving" much of anything, institution-wise.
