it’s so cute that blue sky members are worried about twitter people having unexamined homophobia and racism and bigotries like “they were in that cesspool for so long, it has to have effected them,” like please for the love of Satan, you are on blue sky which is just a different flavor of bigotry

generative ai's are the 976 phone numbers of the current age
edzitron.com
Remember: you pay for *every single generation that Sora or Veo makes, not just the useful ones*, each ten second clip taking a minute to generate and a few dollars from your wallet. You have no guarantee it’ll interpret the prompt in the same way each time. It’s busted.

this is true, it's sometimes easy to forget that they're only showing one out of thousands or more of very obviously terrible generated things

Sora is a paper machete. It is low-quality, impossible to make consistent or reliable, while also being incredibly expensive to run. Every single “good” video you’ve seen is cherrypicked from dozens of terrible ones to make you feel scared that this can create entire movies’ worth of content.

Curious to hear your perspective on Sora. It seems to be the only real (and terrifying) AI product to hit the market lately. How much mileage are they going to get out of this thing that needs to be regulated out of existence?

Republicans clearly have a plan in place heading into 2026 and their judicial arm is hard at work. 🧵↘️

my main takeaways from listening to the Supreme Court oral argument today are

-the writing is on the wall for the Voting Rights Act
-the Republican justices are now throwing racist spaghetti at that wall; they'll pass of whatever sticks as the opinion's rationale

The Conservative Justices Have So Many Ideas For How to Kill the Voting Rights Act
The Republican justices already know where they’re going. They just have to figure out which route they’re going to take to get there.

PSA: You can sit for the assistive technology professional (ATP) exam with zero education but extensive experience; for example, 10 years with a GED

It’s an incredibly exhaustive evaluation, but once you pass you can assess and prescribe equipment - plus a subset of SLP, OT, and PT services

People with chronic pain eventually develop a 'game face' that basically I think of as Resting Pain Face. It's stoic and tends to smooth out pain responses. I bet this would be a FANTASTIC way to gaslight CRPS and FM patients.

2021, MSFT claimed a Teams app could read emotional affect & I's like "holy shit this will fuck over so many Black & autistic & otherwise neurodivergent & women & non-binary ppl & ppl w/ chronic pain & … like Everybody at any of those intersections."

This PainChek thing is that, but a doctors' tool
hypervisible.blacksky.app
Facial expressions common to all humans! 🙃
PainChek is one of these behavioral models, and it acts like a camera‑based thermometer, but for pain: A care worker opens the app and holds a phone 30 centimeters from a person’s face. For three seconds, a neural network looks for nine particular microscopic movements—upper‑lip raise, brow pinch, cheek tension, and so on—that research has linked most strongly to pain. Then the screen flashes a score of 0 to 42. “There’s a catalogue of ‘action‑unit codes’—facial expressions common to all humans. Nine of those are associated with pain,” explains Kreshnik Hoti, a senior research scientist with PainChek and a co-inventor of the device. This system is built directly on the foundation of FACS. After the scan, the app walks the user through a yes‑or‑no checklist of other signs, like groaning, “guarding,” and sleep disruption, and stores the result on a cloud dashboard that can show trends.

the bifurcation of nouveau-billionaire fantasies of world domination and retreating into a bunker is par for the course for narcissism. when they look inside they do not understand what they see—a sucking emptiness which must be filled. if it can't fill the whole world, the world must be cut to size

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.
That's why groups like YCT and eventually
TPUSA formed — because Young Republicans weren't radical enough.

My parents' generation was super racist, but they took pains to hide it from us. So a lot of young conservatives in the 90s and early aughts were earnest small government and/or evangelical
types.
As I said, the overt racists and radicals had to form their own orgs.

So while your "more cynical than thou" posture buffers your self-esteem, it also makes you incorrect. Which should embarrass you.
This is a change. A bad one. And it's okay to say that. Important, even.
know people are eager to claim they were born perfect and never had to learn and change,
unlike losers like me.
So congrats! You were born knowing conservatives are inherently racist. Eat your
cookie rewards.
But remember: Telling people they aren't allowed to grow and change hurts us.

I have long believed that we should be WAY more vocal about how police and ICE constantly murder dogs, and I think this is great messaging actually.

The reality is that you can mobilize a whole lot of usually tuned-out Americans around a “someone is being mean to hecking doggos” cause.

Don't get me wrong. Under the First Amendment, you have the right to say you love Hitler. You have the right to call Black people by a word we all know.

And the rest of us have the right to think you're a Nazi piece of shit. And we will. And we'll fire your sorry ass, too, fuckface.
