JD Vance dismisses Young Republicans who in a group chat said "I love Hitler" and joked about slavery and rape as "a bunch of kids" who "told stupid jokes" and adds that "most of the stupid things I did when I was a teenager and young adult, they're not on the internet."

It may well be that these are drug smugglers - no one outside the DOD or WH is in a position to really know. But that doesn't mean the US is entitled to simply flout maritime laws and norms for interdicting suspected drug vessels.

The US Administration has done zero impact analysis to consider how the lightspeed evisceration of our public health system will affect the health of American families.

Because we have started trade wars on all fronts and, now get this, they DON'T HAVE TO BUY FROM US.

It's pretty revolutionary, but some people "vote with their dollars" and don't want to support people that are assholes.

There are other countries that produce and sell products. We're not special.

Payroll for the military is (conservatively) $8B a pay period (bi-monthly).

Or, hear me out now...we could just tax that rich guy, and every other super rich guy, and pay for healthcare, the military, housing, pay down the debt, and wipe out global poverty. See, I kinda like the "you pay a fair tax you rich b@$tards" approach vs. the pick and choose how you donate approach✌️

Not only is this illegal, it is also financially unfeasible.

Per the CBO's Atlas of Military Compensation, Trump's budget calls for $600 billion for total military compensation and veteran's benefits. This is simply not a gap private donors could plug. He's lying.

I mean my Google Fu tells me it has to be at least over $10 billion a month on troop salaries so if this is true I doubt this will cover it for very long right?

Yeah... this sounds like maybe they can't figure out how to re-allocate money to cover payroll like they promised (for whatever reaons or reasons - legality, priority, etc.), and are trying to pretend there's a back-up plan.

We've already got an administration scooping up money from other budgets to pay the military; add to that the suggeation that the richest citizens might directly fund portions of it puts us, history suggests, at serious risk of the gov't being overthrown. They've already done the legal & social work

Finally the wealthy want to pay their share just repeal the tax cuts you gave them in your dumb ass budget and leave the health-care subsidies alone and they can

This is a pretty incredible show of weakness, imo. Democrats should stay the course. See what happens when Trump tries to use private funds to pay the military.
