If I wanted to get paid for committing political violence, I'd join ICE.

Absolutely going to get fed into an LLM with a "tell me who to fire, I want to reduce headcount at least 50% so I can replace with people who I can rely on ideologically"

Jeffries was asked today:

"If Republicans were to commit to putting forward a vote on extending the ACA subsidies, would that bring Democrats to the negotiating table?

His reply? "Republicans have zero credibility, zero."

fucking melting down at Oysters McSexy having a primary opponent who's a [checks notes] weak dying old woman whom no right-thinking person would ever vote for, waow, sounds like it'll be an easy primary for you to win, then?

Yes, I'm always amazed when people complain about how much COBRA costs. It's literally what your insurance already cost,* it's just no longer being subsidized by your employer.

The reason people THINK employer coverage is significantly less expensive than ACA coverage is because around 75% of the premium cost is typically PAID BY THE EMPLOYER.

ACA tax credits effectively take the place of the employer's share of ESI premiums.

Exactly. In my last story for Rolling Stone, DHS gave me a statement making claims about passengers on an ICE flight, and editors and I agreed not to publish the claims, because they are liars.

From @gregsargent.bsky.social's interview with Gov. Pritzker:
newrepublic.com/article/2016...
Governor Pritzker: Absolutely false. Although I must say, you know, whenever the ICE and CBP agents say something, they put out a release or, you know, you've got Stephen Miller talking about it, they are lying.

I mean, there are several times now where it's just obvious they're lying. You know the story of the man, Silverio, who was shot and killed on a street in Chicago. They claimed that he had dragged an officer and that the officer was seriously injured. Look, we don't know all the details. They don't wear body cams and share any of the information with us. They just sort put a release out later about what happened.

Exactly. We need a better social safety net, which means taxes need to go up. And that means for you -- you personally. We can't get there just by taxing the super-rich.

Lot of people confidently missing the point in the replies to this: if every cent of Elon musks net wealth was liquid, which it isn’t, that’s not even enough money to run the govt for two weeks. The problem less that they have money, and more how they use that money in destabilizing ways.

“The problem with billionaires isn’t that they’re hoarding money that would otherwise pay for a Scandinavian social utopia. It’s that their money has become a source of wildly distorted political power that allows a few men with extremist views to wreak havoc on the rest of us.”

Remember:

– Your symbolic kit for these rallies should be red, white, and blue.
– if you plan to use these rallies to push some other cause, please stay away.

And no, that won't prevent the Far-Right Cinematic Universe from misrepresenting the rallies. Their fan base isn't your audience.

Wait, I'm getting paid for going to the protest? Awesome, I was gonna do it for free!

Sen. Roger Marshall: "October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We'll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it."

This is a person who is still taken seriously and published in left-wing spaces.

To be clear: No, most Israeli Jews are not descended from Polish Jews. And even for the minority who are, it would obviously not be safe for them all to go there now, given the Polish government.

Circumcision doesn't cause autism, it just prevents people from masturbating.

...it doesn't prevent it very well, mind you.

I still can't believe a person who is responsible for healthcare in this country said out loud and meant it that a cause of autism is children getting circumcised. I still cannot believe that this is the country, the world, that I fucking live in

cathyscorner.bsky.social
Since when has the USA ever let ANY foreign country, let alone one with ties to terrorist organizations, build a military base on our own soil??? 😳😠 The gifted plane & real estate deals for Trump from Qatar are getting more & more expensive every day for the American people - & not just financially.

Telling Black people we’ll be “next” if we don’t join whatever half-cocked movement you’ve cooked up this week, only reveals how much YOU don’t understand that we are PERPETUALLY on the firing line of white supremacy.

The House Majority Whip is also insisting that a peaceful "No Kings" demonstration is in fact a "hate America rally" held for the "terrorist wing" of the Democratic Party.

Really feels like they're trying to manifest a violent reaction to it.
