The question should be “Mr. Speaker, were you legitimately elected in 2020? Do you know of any members of congress who specifically were not legitimately elected?”

These guys run every 2 years, and are involved in many many elections. He should be able to be very specific about “irregularities”
WELKER: Is it healthy for democracy for POTUS to be questioning the 2020 election 5 years later with false claims?

JOHNSON: What's healthy i to be focused on election integrity

W: But that's not 'election integrity.' He's still talking about an election he lost

J: There was a lot of irregularity

I think a lot about how vile people were to both Monica Lewinsky and Chelsea Clinton.

The very well-accepted term for "stripping the legal protections of a minority group and then sending a paramilitary force to carry them away" is "ethnic cleansing."

They are planning to ethnically cleanse Springfield, Ohio.
Breaking MS NOW:

The Trump admin is now eyeing Ohio for immigration enforcement operations that could begin as early as next week.

The operation is expected to target Haitian immigrants — with temporary protected status for Haiti expiring on Feb. 3.
ICE eyeing Ohio next, where it is expected to target Haitian immigrants
An estimated 12,000 to 15,000 Haitians live in Springfield, Ohio, a community that President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance targeted during the 2024 campaign, falsely accusing the community ...

So believe me I understand this is deeply frustrating and unfair, but a march that does everything right and still gets tear gassed is a successful march that is winning.

A lot of the strategy of protest is luring the authorities into engaging in obviously, transparently unjust uses of force.
It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.

The laws of hospitality and guest-right scream out in violation. This is one of the oldest and most sacrosanct taboos.
Thinking about whoever said that by accepting a meal from people and then arresting them ICE agents broke a cultural taboo that was invented by, like, the first humans to set up a tent

Revving is a sign of comraderie.

Non-gearheads do not understand this.

Revving is only a threat if the vehicle is pointed at you. Bikers and Jeepers/off roaders rev in *support*. (Harleys and Jeepers also have a modified wave we do at each other, iykyk)
During the anti-ICE ride thru Oakland we kept getting split by cars. At one light, a big dude on a motorcycle in full leathers watched us pass while revving his engine. We waved. He scowled.

20 min later we saw him again, scowling, blocking traffic for us as we turned down Broadway. Solidarity.

The figures here also show that 7% of all child suicides were trans children. That compares with trans children making up only 1% of the population.

Trans kids are seven times as likely to die by suicide as cis kids and all this government can do is make things worse and cover these figures up.

On my quest to finish my PhD I have had:
Running out of money x2
Undiagnosed learning disability
2 children
2 children with disabilities
Spouse with undiagnosed AuDHD
Homelessness
An Pandemic[tm]
Spouse with long covid
An abusive relationship
Cancer
Because I saw this last night and cant let it go: if you are critiquing people for how long it took them to get a PhD, grow up. Getting a PhD is hard enough without also trying to please some arbitrary speed guideline. It took me a long time in part because of covid, partially because I had to work

Gordon Korman's "Bruno and Boots" series would be hysterical
Quote tweet with a Canadian book that would absolutely kill as a TV series.

I'll start:
RED X by David Demchuk
The thing that bothers me so much about Carney's joke about greenlighting the Heated Rivalry show is that it furthers the narrative that it's a needle in a haystack. Anyone who reads Canadian books and watches Canadian film knows that we could have dozens more HRs with enough funding.

ohhhhhh okay so what we've learned from the epstein mail drop is that the entirety of the fascistic culture war since the 2010s onward was basically wholesale consolidated through the anglosphere bourgeois old boys club network of pedophile rapists
So apparently I was right to shittalk m00t this week because it's been revealed that his boneheaded decision to establish /pol/ and subsequently ruin the website was allegedly born out of a one-on-one meeting with Jeffery Epstein.

I was trying to think about what has shifted since I went to college 25 years ago. There was definitely cultural pressure to get "a degree would lead to a job" and intense mockery of liberal arts/"useless degrees".

What's changed is that now that mockery comes from the president, provost, & dean.
I also think the drumbeat of anti-intellectualism/anti-academia a lot of these kids grew up with (along with changes in higher ed itself) has probably understandably made them more likely to go to college but see it as strictly transactional and not be particularly inclined to struggle.
