People are being killed in the streets of Minnesota standing up for the social justice that’s at the heart of the Catholic faith. But Minnesota“Bishop” Robert Barron, who doesn’t stand up for social justice is instead down in FL at the estate of a guy who started a circus. Very typical for Barron.

Now thou dost dismiss thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word in peace;
Because my eyes have seen thy salvation,
Which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples:
A light to the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

Every time I see someone like Abbott choose self-inflicted decline, I think of this quote from Pedro Sanchez:

"Spain needs to choose between being an open and prosperous country or a closed-off, poor country. It’s as simple as that."

I don’t claim to have invented this, though I don’t think I got it from anywhere, but I’m seeing a lot more people calling the “Trump regime” now and I feel massively vindicated in doing so from day one. Try this one on for size too: “Acting President Trump.”

He is not the president because he cannot legally hold the office of president. Antipresident (by analogy to antipope) would work as well.

Thinking about my supposed coreligionists who have nothing but the most idiotic sneering with which to answer Protestant theology–a theology which I believe to be wrong, which is why I am Catholic and not Protestant–but suddenly are nothing but ecumenists when it's the racism conventicle
I looked into Cities Church, which was protested for having an ICE agent as a pastor.

You already thought they were right-wing. But they're far worse than you thought.

They're ground zero for the "empathy is a sin" idea, among others.

i think this is exactly right. fascism is the Death Drive as ideology. it's why the catastrophic end of the Nazi Party does not deter people from worshipping Nazis. that the Nazis destroyed Germany along with the rest of Europe is part of the appeal.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

The current Democratic coalition is every single person who has any idea how society works, any interest in maintaining it, or any scraps of empathy for their fellow human beings, and that's about 47% of the country, tops.
People like to remark that the Democratic party spans from Rashida Tlaib to Bill Kristol at this point but the fact is that's a far too small coalition to reliably win nationally, lol.
