He’s getting slammed for not sending in the guard, but I dunno, maybe he doesn’t want to give Miller the civil war he’s begging for.🤷🏻‍♀️

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) says he has been denied 4 times to see what is going on inside the Broadview, IL ICE facility:

"Something's going on in there that they don't want us to see. I don't know what it is, but all Americans should be asking the same question."

I wish lying wasn't just accepted and allowed because there's no way that happened. Sorry but no producer is ever doing that. Ever. Just not something that happens. And I'm referring to real producers like Ms. Brockman here and not a "producer" on Timcast

UPDATE: In emailed statement to me / @reason.com, DHS alleges that WGN-TV producer Debbie Brockman "threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer."
Screencap of email from DHS public affairs: Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin:

“U.S. Border Patrol was conducting immigration enforcement operations and when several violent agitators used their vehicles to block in agents in an effort to impede and assault federal officers. In fear of public safety and of law enforcement, officers used their service vehicle to strike a suspect’s vehicle and create an opening. As agents were driving, Deborah Brockman, a U.S. citizen, threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer.

“This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of illegal aliens violently resisting arrest and agitators and criminals ramming cars into our law enforcement officers. These attacks highlight the dangers our law enforcement officers face daily—all while receiving no pay thanks to the Democrats’ government shutdown.”

My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

Chicago: 🧊 is kidnapping people again this morning, this time including a WGN reporter. Lincoln and Foster.

I'm at the scene where ICE abducted multiple people from Lincoln and Foster this morning.

A WGN producer was among the people taken, allegedly because she was among a group of bystanders who tried to intervene. ICE agents hit this car while making their getaway.

I keep thinking about this detail from today’s hearing: Federal judge April Perry said she began getting threats “about 10 minutes” after she was assigned the case seeking to block Trump’s national guard deployment. This is the world we live in now.
jonseidel.bsky.social
Perry: "I agree with you about the seriousness of threats, generally, across the United States right now. I don't think there's a single public servant, really, who is not being subject to threats.

"Mine started about 10 minutes after I got this case."

Matt Taibbi's co-host, Walter Kirn, compares Democrats who oppose Trump's immigration crackdowns to Southern politicians who opposed school integration in the 1960s, and equates the National Guard protecting the Little Rock 9 to the National Guard abducting immigrants now.

This is not good

The story is actually worse than the headline. The ex-GOP official worked in Missouri with Ed Martin.

The masked ICE agents on the roof responded by firing pepper balls, with one striking him in the head

A group of Chicago cops have been accused of bullying witnesses into falsely implicating suspects, & threatening to separate people from children if they didn’t provide favorable testimony.

But prosecutors are failing to take a meaningful look back at people convicted bc of their testimonies:

In Chicago, a community successfully stopped a very keystone cops duo of masked ICE agents from snatching a man.

The agents seemed more concerned with fixing their masks to hide their faces than ultimately arresting this person, who put up a remarkable struggle.

NOTE: Brendan Reilly is running for Cook County Board President, meaning that he wants a lot of authority over the budget for the sheriff and the jail and the state's attorney and the public defender

But he won't even sign a statement in support of due process when his own colleague was attacked.

Statement on Abuse of Power of ICE and Other Federal Agents in Chicago
Black text on white background

Statement on Abuse of Power of ICE and Other Federal Agents in Chicago
On October 3, 2026 Alderwoman Jessie Fuentes (26th) witnessed ICE agents attempting to detain a patient at a clinic in her ward - a patient seeking medical care after ICE allegedly used excessive force and broke his leg. When Ald. Fuentes asked the agents for an arrest warrant - a basic constitutional requirement - they refused and instead unjustifiably put her in handcuffs.
Showing a warrant before detention is not optional; it's a cornerstone of constitutional law. And yet,
ICE agents continue to ignore this requirement.
This is not new, nor is it an isolated incident. ICE agents continue to violate civil liberties with impunity, and if we continue to allow this erosion of due process to go unchecked, we risk undermining the foundation of our democracy.
Due process is not negotiable. We will not stay silent. We must stand together to demand accountability. What's playing out day-by-day is a warning that we must organize and not relent.
Speak out and show up. Go to ICE watch trainings. Learn your rights so you can protect the rights of those around you.
And we, as members of the City Council hold firm that it will take a coalition all of us, united across racial and ethnic communities, political leanings, ages and socioeconomic status, to stand up to the disturbing pattern of abuse from ICE and the federal government, and the complete disregard for the rights we hold as Americans. Some context that I think gets lost by calling people here "protesters." Strictly true that they were protesting. But this was neighborhood. Almost all of it was people who came out of their houses and pleaded to stop using gas because there were kids in houses/yards in the blocks off Kedzie.

genuinely impossible to overstate what the secret police are doing. It is state hooliganism. It is gangsterism as policy. It is the jouissance of the original klan nightriders that followed the civil war. they terrorize minority communities while intentionally paralyzing local governments.
