Cut your losses, you fiends. Get out of Minneapolis now and at least PRETEND to regroup and assess what is happening.
If I were a sane Republican, or even a far left populist, I'd be furious at what Trump, Miller, John Roberts and Greg Bovino have done to the people they hired and the agency they destroyed. No one wins here.

I understand why some can’t watch the video and absolutely support that choice. But if you can, I think you should. Yes, there have been so many of these over the years; *and* these are escalating times. It’s not more the same, it’s worse, and we need to face that best we can to change it.

Even those of us built to always see both sides now have to agree. There's no other option. Fire them all. Leave an empty administrative shell if you must, but the culture of the agency is too far gone, the personnel is broken, and it's not the fault of the citizens they are shooting.
To repeat: Abolish ICE.

I think I’ll do a little sleuthing tomorrow to start a list of perps making ICE chemical munitions like tear gas, pepper spray, pepper balls, etc.

If any of y’all want to share info on known companies or pics of the canisters in replies (ideally with a link to the source), that’d help. Thanks!
Seems like organizing against the tear gas companies should be another front in all this.
Locals say ICE used tear gas as they left

This is why I hope people will think twice before sharing JD Vance clips unfiltered, or even to dunk on them. He's amoral and better at propaganda than you'd ever want to be. And even when you think you're humiliating him, you're spreading some poison.
Yep. There are split duties here. Miller broadcasts undisguised bloodlust to the base, openly relishing the sadism and cruelty of ICE's paramilitary warfare against Americans on Fox News. Vance sells it to non-MAGA Republicans and independents by speaking piously about law enforcement under siege.
Excellent piece. Though I expect Miller to continue what is mostly his role—with notable exceptions—of going on Fox to tell Republicans exactly what Donald Trump wants them to say.

And when people say they’re not trained, what they mean is they (esp CPB) are trained to do combat with cartels. Those are the tactics they are trained in. Not crowd control or ordinary traffic stops or deceive work or beat interactions.
I understand why people dislike cops. But it's very important to recognize that ICE and DHS are not conducting themselves as cops. They are conducting themselves, at various moments, as an omnipresent secret police, and as a completely unaccountable invading army. Totally separate from policing.
ICE is not law enforcement, they are not police, they are paramilitary. Opposing ICE is not against law enforcement, it is not against police, it is against paramilitary.

Every little thing every one of us has done has helped, even if only the littlest bit. And we're by no means done yet.
but anyway I'm just thinking a lot about LA, which was sort of the first battleground of all this, where we watched regular-ass people day after day heroically refuse to back down, and how that kindles a little spark which makes you think, "I could do that too. if they came here, I could do that"

I'm trying to collect more epithets that aren't ablelist or profane. Haven't heard "dingdong" in a while - might put it into the rotation! Thanks, @anjalikdayal.bsky.social!
this preening little dingdong
JD Vance: "To our fellow Americans we say, you're never gonna find great meaning in a cubicle or in front of a computer screen. But you will find great meaning if you dedicate yourself to the creation and sustenance of human life."

I woke up this morning thinking, "Thank you Minneapolis!" I suppose you are the Boston of the Revolution of 2026, and may you all stay safe.
The clergy just keep coming to this anti-ICE protest.

Genuinely unclear where they all will go — it’s packed outside on the sidewalk already.

As it turns out, Real Folkz don’t like fascism. Or, for that matter, incredibly corrupt “oligarchy.”
2. This is incredibly offensive, bc it treats the Real Folkz you claim Democrats are condescending to with fancy words like idiots. Real Folkz are <plenty smart enough> to either know what "oligarchy" is or understand it when you explain it. For a party obsessed with elitism, this is the worst kind.

My son, the artist and novelist, Patrick Carroll, made this shirt - as well as the one on the cover of Mr. Styles's new album. Feels surreal, and I'm just the mom! This image is from the Apple Music iTunes Store opening screen.

This is it. They need someone who can lie and string multi-clause sentences together in something like a paragraph. If they just want lies many can perform.
If you see Vance on tee vee, it's because they needed somebody to lie about something.

They deployed ten times as many agents to a city 40% the size and then had them drive around in military convoys publicly snatching random pedestrians before launching tear gas. Also, they shot a lady in the face
Vance marvels at how much more “chaotic” operations have been here compared to even LA and Chicago, “It is unique to this city. What is it about Minneapolis that it has become so chaotic?”

Sir, maybe it is that you shot a woman in the face.”

ICE agents are trampling on the civil and constitutional rights of Minnesotans every day. Enough is enough.

DFL Rep. Jamie Long just announced that he’s authoring legislation that would establish a right for Minnesotans to sue federal officers for constitutional rights violations.

Some days I absolute hate The Left.

There. I said it. I support so many of their policy goals and I absolutely loathe the way they act online. The insistence on language. The refusal to acknowledge progress unless it's absolute. The single-issue focus when it gets them nowhere.
