It costs in both time and money to be healthy in America, neither of which the vast majority of the population has in quantities enough to make a difference.

I think about the great nuclear post-apocalyptic book “Alas Babylon.” After the bomb drops, the town librarian rises in status as the keeper of knowledge. In contrast, the bank president offs himself when he realizes money no longer has any value.

The funniest part of all the billionaires are building bunker stories is the part where they’re sure the class hierarchy will survive the apocalypse.

"I once met a former bodyguard of one billionaire with his own "bunker", who told me his security team's first priority, if this really did happen, would be to eliminate said boss and get in the bunker themselves. And he didn't seem to be joking."
Tech billionaires seem to be doom prepping. Should we be worried?

The @chicago.suntimes.com photographer who risked their personal health and safety to take this photograph is Anthony Vazquez. Please credit photographers and media outlets. In this age of misinformation, a photo with no context could be anything at all.

Yes your taxes should support disabled people.

They should support homeless people.

They should support those living in poverty, children and the elderly.

This is literally the purpose of taxes, and I would far rather support those who need it than continue to enrich the elite.

As to the what you’re risking, it’s almost every facet of your health.

Blood clots, your brain, heart attacks, strokes, organ damage, etc (the list is endless).

There’s also concern it may increase your risk of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Only time will tell.

These assholes aren’t messiahs or super-geniuses. They’re weirdos who were in the right place at the right time and were all ruthless enough to fuck everyone over they ever knew and shameless enough to build cults populated with other antidemocratic weirdos. It’s infuriating.

It’s endlessly depressing watching all these tech oligarchs try and convince themselves they’re geniuses instead of people who just happened to benefit from capitalism requiring their products and then the entire political and banking system gassing them up with with free money and tireless support.
Yep, interesting, isn’t it? And CK’s widow’s past w Romanian orphans is equally interesting, I’d say. Curiouser and curiouser.
They’re full of resentment for women, who are deciding to discontinue these guys’ genetic lines by not sleeping with them. I’ve met many, and all had that same chip on their shoulder. R women tend to be pick-mes or women who wouldn’t ever need to worry about unplanned pregnancy.
Is this another, more recent memorial event than the one where his widow was on stage with pyrotechnics?
I won’t say what I believe about him and his adoptive son and their joint pron-monitoring which is so, so very weird.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson calls Sunday's naked bike ride in protest of the Portland ICE facility and and Trump troop deployment "the most threatening thing I’ve seen yet"

This is why ridicule is an effective form of protest. Convening an Emergency Naked Bike Ride is ridiculous in the first place; having it give Mike Johnson such vapors that he calls it “the most threatening thing I’ve seen yet” is so over the top it’s ridiculous. Just perfection

I hear he's doing aversion therapy wherein he watches the video over and over and over again so that he will lose his fear of naked men on bikes

as charming and whimsical as some will view this, it bears noting that absurdity—not militancy or might—are what people have chosen to repeat from the portland standoffs against ICE.

why is that?

what purpose does this serve?

Most Rs are filled with rage at the reality that most women wouldn’t touch them with a 10-foot pole, and they’re not entitled to women’s affection or bodies. They’re filled with resentment over women deciding to discontinue their genetic line from evolution.
