Here to hang out and chat about life, my hobbies and my cats! I am owned by two Maine Coons, Prospero (Perry) and Artemis (Misty). I love #pottery, dabble in fountain pens, am interested in the world, and obsess over US/UK politics more than is good for me

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Apparently I am also practicing car hoarding, house hoarding, husband hoarding, dog hoarding, computer hoarding, furniture hoarding and art hoarding.
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

This is caused by adults not maintaining their pertussis (whooping cough) vaccines.

You should be getting a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine every 10 years.

We have a baby coming in the family (my first grand nephew!), so my husband and I both got vaccinated this week.

The best thing I learned from Macaulay Culkin at last night’s Home Alone screening is that his 4yo son loves the movie, thinks of himself as Kevin, and has no idea that that’s his dad. Culkin is attempting to hide that fact for as long as possible

I actually have started writing down my favorite, trusted online recipes in a binder because I am not sure the sites will survive.

When I traveled overseas last year, I bought a paper travel guide, something that I never thought I would do again.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.

The Doug Jones for Governor campaign is officially active.

Jones filed his paperwork with the Alabama Secretary of State’s office on Monday to launch his official campaign committee.
Jones makes it official: Alabama deserves a governor who lives in the state
In a campaign video, Jones said Alabamians deserve a governor who won't treat the state "like a rest stop."
