Didn't see this at the time, but it definitely speaks to the social engineering bit of re-feudalisation.
The monied classes will have functional, literate offspring with access to the High Arts, while the serfs will be socially & intellectually zombified via relentless, force-fed audiovisual slop.

Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins?
He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions.
So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

To give a schematic overview of the past decade, the ZIRP era empowered Silicon Valley to build wealth and infrastructure equivalent to micro-states, which our neoliberal leaders, allergic as they are to the idea of state intervention, were all too happy to facilitate. (cont.)

Two models of Amazon smart glasses—one for hip consumers who can order products on the go, and one for wage workers, whose efficiency and whereabouts will be tracked continuously. One is a luxury item, one will be mandatory. Both ensure nonstop surveillance. Both are extractive. Both are handcuffs.
According to reports, “Amazon is simultaneously working on two models: one for its own drivers to assist with deliveries, and a sleeker version with color display for customers to order.”
Anyway, today in luxury surveillance.

Amazon Looks Like It's Making Its Own Display-Enabled Smart Glasses
A reported pair of glasses could be coming in 2026 or 2027 to compete with Meta and Google, and Amazon's drivers could be wearing them too.

Every idiot who can read a poll knows that if you wanted to beat Reform, you would put in place a fairly radical social democratic programme. But that isn't their priority. Their priority is is demonstrating loyalty to the City, Wall Street, Silicon Valley at all costs (2/2).

I really can't stress enough the extent to which you've totally missed the point if, like every single liberal commentator, you assume that the Labour leadership are conducting themselves like this because they mistakenly believe that doing so will help them defeat Reform (1/2).

I am a hypermasculine and extremely powerful alpha male. As such my greatest fears are seed oils, rainbows, people who don't look like me being on TV, and preventative medicine. I cannot explain any of these fears and consider that to be your fault.

The superb 'exotic display for the court' bit of this Chris Morris interview is often shared as a word perfect skewering of what passes as 'political comedy' these days. But this is the part that more people need to know about.

The Race to Find a Measles Treatment as Infections Surge
The measles vaccine was so effective the disease was considered eliminated in the U.S., but a resurgence of outbreaks is spurring a need for drugs.

the only objection a lot of centrist/lib types have to overt fascism is clearly aesthetic. they find it vulgar & embarrassing. their demand is for a calmer, smarter and more routine version run by people they can be proud of because they present as educated, polished & smart & that's really it

I remember, once, reading through the bulky 'design concept' document the external agency the new head of marketing had hired for a rebrand.
At multiple points they'd forgotten to Find/Replace 'Middlesex' for 'Greenwich'.
None of the senior marketing bods spotted this. They only looked at the pics

Exeter, Galway, Queen’s, Birmingham, Warwick, Kent, and UKRI’s KTN…
If anyone wondered where the same obsession with ‘modernising’ the crest, speaking in abstract nouns, and questionable colour schemes for these originated:

is it good or bad that our technocratic tweaks to boost growth appear to consist of turning the big "acceptable levels of fraud" dial
If you want a microcosm of this government's issues:
Rachel Reeves gave a big speech on the need to deregulate, she is also considering intervening in the car loan case to reduce bank liabilities.
Last year, the same government introduced a mandatory requirement to compensate push payment fraud.

Basically, any politico who tells you they are patriot and a serious individual should be asked “would you implode your career and your party now to save the UK from an economic and social firestorm that’s already raging and will only get worse” and watch them squirm

Lift any rock in the UK economy that doesn’t make sense and you’ll find Thatcher and the decades of privatisation that followed. They sold our futures for a quick buck and that’s cliche as shit hit unfortunately that’s just it. No government as it stands will ever deal with that because lol.

Same with housing, actually. They’ll never tackle house prices because any reduction would hit paper millionaire pensioners and homeowners who were told to leverage debt against their massively inflated assets. The whole economy is just a house of cards that requires debt and inflation to stay alive

If you’re ever in any doubt about how fatally wounded the British economy and state was by Thatcherism, just understand that they won’t nationalise utilities without massive compensation because it would implode a bunch of pensions that rely on them and the government doesn’t want to deal with that.

I see all the sensibles who voted for Starmer have now realised he is dreadful. Just took him to spell it out by going full fash in a speech. You voted for this, because you knew best, and that was that Labour would change in government to do what you wanted, and not what they always said under him.
