On this week's show, Dave made a big statement: no automaker has had a better year than 1998 Toyota. The test for this is most desirable combination of sports car, pickup truck, SUV, and sedan. Any one got a better idea?
Hope they ask him "so...what did you get up to yesterday?"
You think those are cankles, that's his g-suit.

A lot of centrist commentators who genuinely got worked up about the unforgivably insulting nature of "cling to guns and religion" or "basket of deplorables" are weirdly silent about Trump portraying himself as literally shitting on American cities

It's maybe unnecessarily glib to point this out, but man, they really are fundamentally *reactionaries,* and as such are totally predictable and can be led around by the nose once you grasp the basic logic of reaction
Really think the biggest win today aside from just numbers is negatively polarizing the regime of 12-year-olds into fully adopting #YESKINGS as their official stance.

Hey if you are a federal employee (currently furloughed or otherwise) who attended a No Kings protest today I have a quick question for you I’d love to hear thoughts on, Signal is davelevitan.26 and you can remain anonymous!
It's a Cop-Flock Cock-Block
#NoKings event in Fairhope, Al.
A woman was arrested for "lewd conduct" because she was dressed in penis suit with a sign that said "No dick-tator"
3 cops on a 53 yo woman.

I didn't take pics but the feeling of being in a group of people with no visible beginning or end was so thrilling. The opposite of online anomie, and a living counterpoint to the wary, isolated, compartmentalized world the shitheads want to make. It's simple and obvious I guess but it means a lot.
Sorry to be corny but the aerial shots of these crowds are almost indescribably moving and hopeful

“You can win elections by tacking to the middle; lots of people have. But you can also win elections by staking a moral position and convincing people to agree with you. You can earn support by demonstrating what is important to you instead of just being determined to nod along with what you hear.”

If nothing else, today shows that the country is full of earnest liberals and you can't just act like we don't exist.

Just home from #NoKings Denver. Walked about 6 miles, did some chants, experienced great vibes. My 11-year-old started a bunch of chants and got a ton of compliments on his sign:

notice the general mood of the timeline? how everyone is in a good mood and there’s a lot less misery and dooming? how there’s a lot of “we’re going to beat these assholes”?

anyway that’s why these events are important

The sudden appearance of all these Trump administration accounts on Bluesky is ominous. They're not here in good faith and they're not here to troll.

They're setting something up. It likely has to do with a coming attack on Bluesky.

Like, I really don't think it's a coincidence that the frogs showed up at the same time the universities, and the airports and the media all started saying no. We just needed one person to sneak a hand into their armpit and squeeze just perfectly.
One thing about the silly costumes I haven't really seen discussed is it represents that moment in class when we all realized the sub had no control. Someone made a fart noise and got away with it and you could feel the power shift in the room. That's why I'm excited to be in the street today.
We have frogs everywhere. #NoKings
So after listening to the last @chrislhayes.bsky.social podcast, I'm wondering if the rational is "we have to show that we're in control otherwise it gives legal authority for the president to use the insurrection act." Only even remotely charitable explanation I can think of.
