Do not kill the cringe inside you.

Kill the part that cringes.

Especially now.

Dance with delight by the full blazing light of all the cringe you love best.

This is a very powerful video from comedian Josh Johnson. Not just because what he says that's meaningful. But because it shows an emerging trend that high profile people have finally started speaking up, despite concerns it might alienate their followers.

It is time to choose sides.

Every cis person needs to read and absorb these sentences.
Never again.

If the things you require me to sacrifice "for the greater good" are my healthcare, my safety, my bodily autonomy and my right to exist as an equal human being in your society, then it's not the good at all, and your party can burn to the ground and the nation along with it.

This is the reality of means-testing and work requirements. Even those on the left can fall for this stuff and ignore the costs. To end this madness, we need to go universal. No more means-testing or conditions. Universal basic income, healthcare, and education. And tax the rich more than they get.
I will simply never recover from reading this sentence:

"Since Georgia implemented work requirements in 2020, they have spent twice as much on Deloitte consultants and administrative costs as on healthcare for people."
Today, Luke Farrell (@lukef.bsky.social) explains how complex eligibility requirements have turned America’s safety net into a lucrative revenue stream for monopolistic private contractors.

School isn’t just “hard” for some autistic girls, it can be overwhelming in ways many people don’t see or understand. This thoughtful post explores why attendance struggles often stem from stress, sensory overwhelm and neurobiological responses, not behaviour issues. https://bit.ly/AGNrabp

I think about Elijah McClain a lot. How he was a sweet, lovely young soul who used to play the violin for stray cats. How brutally his young life ended and how the State sent riot police to interrupt the violin vigil in his name. The cruelty was always the point.

not productive: "here's all the reasons you should be understanding about why I was wrong."

productive: "I was wrong. you were right. how can I help now?"

and then STOP trying to get people to stop being mad at you. they're going to be mad a while. that's okay. just eat it and try to do better.

And that's why we're here.

A regular reminder that cops have been doing exactly this to Black Americans for far longer than our cellphone culture has been reporting it.

If we want the nation in which we live to be different, we must organize, rise up, and make it so.

With *diverse tactics* including big strikes and more.
Not sure our brains were made to process extrajudicial executions in the streets in real time

Once again: Focusing on their lack of training is a mistake. With "better training," their violence would simply cost more, and they would still kill whoever they wanted, but make it look more professional — to make people more comfortable, the way many of you are at ease with local police violence.

fellas, it is 8:30am on the morning of STFU friday & this is your reminder that you do not talk to police

"I do not have to talk to you without an attorney
& I do not have an attorney
& so I will not talk to you.
Am I free to go?"

practice it in the mirror / car if you need to, so you're ready 🫶

Did you know that autistic people are more likely to have atypical or paradoxical reactions to medication, such as getting sleepy from stimulants—or amped up on decongestants? No surprise if you didn't, as too many medical professionals don't know this either.

Clinicians must put more effort into autism-specific medical care
Without it, autistic adults with high support needs like my son are missing out on treatments that could reduce their suffering and improve their quality of life.

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.

Currently living the private practice portion of this nightmare after bailing on an unethical small group practice.

I've been waffling between "it would be great to get paid anything close to what people believe I'm making" and "UBI would open up all the runway I would need"....
🧵 hot take: the mental health / psych system is in crisis due to provider and therapist turnover and limited business acumen among small group practices

larger practice businesses run for profit & so care / quality & longevity of staff can vary

small group practices crumble under low reimbursement

It will never stop enraging me that people assume they can take advantage of the disabled.

They underestimate us.

They assume we won’t know our rights.

They think we will settle for scraps.

Ableism is everywhere & society is more eugenicist minded than anyone will admit.
