The only thing they know about her is what Trump has said about her, and the most important thing to know about most pundits is that they'll fully believe Trump on anything that doesnt directly impact them
Like, maybe she'd ultimately be a bad candidate for statewide office in Texas? I don't know. But the visceral reaction from centrist pundits requires them to project ideologies onto her that simply aren't there.

When I was researching this essay I was struck by the fact that a key piece of evidence used to support the idea that the "they/them" ad was decisive is, apparently, unverifiable to the public.

That inconvenience didn't stop a stampede of people waving the 2.7% figure around like a bloody shirt.

Peter Gallagher's work on Heathcliff is astonishing. The jokes are all so self-referential that it invites you to enjoy every one as an inside joke. When you are finally in on the joke, it feels kind of comforting. I don't know, It doesn't operate like a regular comic strip.

I don't think I've ever put my personal thoughts about "understanding" heathcliff here and this seems like a good time. First off, who really cares if you get it, if you find it funny that's good enough imo. But if you want to try to understand "why it's funny" I think there's a clear place to start
I used to have this thing I did on Twitter where I would flatly describe the plot of a Garfield comic every time I came across one and then I tried to do the same thing with Heathcliff comics only to realize that they’re really bizarre and do not actually make a ton of sense

If it's gay to layer jackets, well then, brother, I must be one hell of a f–
Just got a YouTube ad that started with “you’re not a child, you’re a man! Stop wearing so many layers to go outside” and fellas is it gay and/or childish to layer your clothing?
