hi! i wrote something for @rewirenewsgroup.com’s campus dispatch about student worker unions and repro justice!

it would make me very happy if you could read it and let me know what you think or, the greatest sign it was good: share it with others!
Analysis: Student Worker Unions Are a Force for Reproductive Justice
In the post-Roe era, student unions are increasingly helping student workers secure access to reproductive health care.

Reminder that this is an absolutely urgent need in the Minneapolis area and rent is due TOMORROW. Families in hiding aren’t working and can’t pay rent.

Ashley Fairbanks is a locally trusted person and this fundraiser is real.
if you feel like passing around a link today and helping fundraise for rent that will actually get paid today (and in the next few days for families who have a grace period) you can send here.

we will be going hard all day. i won’t be posting about it because I don’t want to flood your feeds.

Hi everyone! We’ve been super busy delivering meals the past two weeks- the extreme cold has made this more necessary than ever. MIWRC has been operating as an emergency warning shelter for most of the month and we’ve been really fortunate to help keep hot meals available there for people in need.

The state called a health department inspector to the stand.

When he was asked by Planned Parenthood attorneys if an increased focus on inspecting abortion facilities was unrelated to health and safety standards, he paused for several moments, then replied: “I would say that’s true, yes.”

In 2020, the public health information ecosystem was reconfigured around pundits: scientists or doctors who are not reporters and don’t know how to navigate, e.g., false statements from an unreliable source. It’s more important than ever to focus on following actual journalists:
U.S. health officials insisted it was still on. African health leaders said it was cancelled. A hotly debated study on hepatitis B in Guinea-Bissau is indeed halted, as I reported last week. Here's my latest:

i don’t post on politics much myself lately because there isn’t anything i can add that other people haven’t already said and i am too emotionally burned out to be clever but i do feel like something like nuremburg is way too light for the type of evil things we’re seeing today
“On Thursday, Quinhin Nantote, Guinea-Bissau’s minister of public health, said the study had not received proper ethical approval, and his office has suspended it… “We have no evidence of any meeting they held, we don’t even have minutes of a negotiated approval,” he said.”

This is something that has been on my mind for years.

Media rubs me the wrong way (often) - but especially with their obsession with printing names and faces of people experiencing their own personal hell.

It is not humane.
