Nogmaals zien we deze juridisch onjuiste stelling terug in het regeerakkoord: “De permanente verblijfsvergunning verdwijnt onder het Europese migratiepact”. RvS geeft inderdaad de juiste uitleg van het EU-recht, in par. 3.2 zoek.officielebekendmakingen.nl/stcrt-2026-2...

“Might it be fun to attend as a campy heckle-party and throw popcorn at the screen?”

Nope. This isn’t Rocky Horror or The Valley of Gwangi.

It’s not fun. There is nothing fun about this movie, about this regime, or about the situation Americans find ourselves.”

In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:

"In theater" is a military term that refers to a wartime theater of operations. ICE and CBP agents are in Minnesota, which is one of the United States. The enemy in this military operation are citizens of Minnesotans and the United States.
Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

Congresswoman @ayannapressley.bsky.social has been trying to get qualified immunity eliminated her ENTIRE career.

What the fuck is it going to take to get people to listen to her?
There's no ICE accountability without ending qualified immunity.

They're murdering people. There won't be justice for the lives they've stolen, but there must be accountability.

My bill with @markey.senate.gov would ensure families can sue the agents murdering their loved ones.

Almost like the violence is bipartisan & decades in the making and the answer not as simple as "dump trump."
Worth noting that commuting the sentence of one of the people involved in this abhorrent scandal was one of Biden's last acts as president. Food for thought for anyone who thinks the prison-industrial complex doesn't have a stranglehold on all the levers in politics.

there has been a tendency in the 21st century to insist that the Holocaust was an event so unique that "never again" becomes ontologically impossible: to the right wing, history has only ever had one horror, and it exists only to be used to shield their own actions and bludgeon their enemies
The US Holocaust Museum being more outraged by Tim Walz saying that, like Anne Frank, children today are in hiding from armed agents of the state, than they are about the fact that children are in hiding from armed agents of the state, is why Holocaust remembrance culture is in crisis.

A question I ask every family member if they are going anywhere now is, "Do you have your passport?" - friends have kids carrying copies of their birth certificates in their backpacks, like. This is it. This anxiety fucking blows, man.
"A document that once made me proud of all the places I’ve traveled is now a badge to prove I belong," writes columnist Laura Yuen. "It speaks volumes that a person like me is scared — somebody with so many privileges, including my perfect American English."

"Aren’t you scared, too?"
Yuen: My parents thought we had made it. Now we carry papers.

Curious why ICE and CBP agents are so brutal? Here's a useful explainer I wrote last week, before Saturday's outrageous murder, about how uniquely unsuited ICE and CBP are for this moment—and why they were so corruptible into Trump's own fascist secret police: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-101-ho...
"ICE 101" — How Trump changed ICE and CBP into a fascist secret police
ICE and CBP are fatally flawed products of the post-9/11 War on Terror — now Trump has weaponized those very flaws to occupy America.

The NRA/right-wing goal has always been a society where everyone can be considered armed so the only questions of whether you get to get away with killing someone is if you are in the good graces of the power structure and/or whether your victim was not.
“Everyone should be allowed to carry a gun for their safety but the government can murder you in the street if you have a gun” is an incredible endpoint for the conservative moment
