elected democrats who want their constituents to remain non-violent in their protests of these abuses must actually offer a path for ending the abuses non-violently. they currently are not as a party and it’s a major problem.
🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

Had a good day at work. Everyone has bad days and usually when you look back those are all you can remember. So i try to remember the Vonnegut quote about acknowledging when you're happy and so that's what this post is for. I hope it helps you too. www.goodreads.com/quotes/3172-...
A quote from A Man Without a Country
And I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, 'If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.

This is driving me crazy. Rogan did not call ICE the gestapo. He said he can see why people say that, after saying that Renee Good was crazy and he can see the other side of the argument that Somalians were being mass imported to rig elections and “hijack democracy.”

if you try to focus on Trump’s authoritarianism, Schumer will deflect and say people want us to focus on affordability. but when Zohran Mamdani made affordability the heart of his campaign Schumer refused to endorse him because they disagree about Israel. it’s all mealy mouthed bullshit.

Is anyone else getting flashbacks to every elementary school teacher who kept telling you to ignore the bullies because if you were getting bullied was your problem, but if you started complaining about it then it became their problem?
State investigators have been on the scene in North Minneapolis.

I know you’re angry. I’m angry. What Donald Trump wants is violence in the streets.

But Minnesota will remain an island of decency, of justice, of community, and of peace.

Don’t give him what he wants.

The first general strike to occur in the US was in Saint Louis 1877 and it was, by no mistake, multi-racial in its solidarity in the face of federal occupiers and deputized state police.

Quoted post unrelated.
Last night, The Minneapolis Federation of Educators Local 59 signed on to the call for a Jan 23 shutdown. That brings total labor support to: the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1005, SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, CWA Local 7250, St. Paul Federation of Educators Local 28, and the MFE 59
Unions and community orgs are calling for a Minnesota-wide shutdown in 10 days to protest the ferocious assault by federal immigration agents. They're saying on Jan 23, no work, no school, no shopping. SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, & others are supporting, w/ more to join. By me, Amie Stager

So, crazy news: its actually already illegal for a federal agent to shoot a civilian in the face multiple times.

You can actually already arrest and prosecute an ICE agent for that.

This is the dynamic across most of America: Liberal cities generate revenue, which state governments then transfer to benefit conservative rural areas, whose residents despite city-dwellers and consistently vote to harm them. But politicians endlessly pander to rural voters and demonize cities.
Another critical piece of missing context in this story: tax dollars flow from the MSP metro to rural Minnesota. People in the city subsidize the lifestyles of people living in the country minnesotareformer.com/2023/12/04/t...

On the way home from work i wait for the bus in front of several major intersections. There's four lanes each way, onramps and off-ramps, a cloverleaf, people crossing 4 lanes in the span of 100 feet to get into a turn lane, and constant honking. It really reinforces my love for the bus.

You can feel the Democratic voting base opting out every time Schumer opens his mouth.

Just completely useless for this moment, and it's becoming increasingly clear that that's by design.
MS NOW: Why haven't you gotten a dozen Dem senators & NYC cops, flown to Minneapolis & said to the guys wearing masks 'We've brought people who know how to operate'

SCHUMER: You're right. We need police officers to tell ICE, 'You don't know what the hell you're doing. You need real police training'

Even more mealy mouthed than Fox's "We report, you decide." is this bullshit where it sounds like "Here's your slop, we're not doing any due diligence on whether it's true or not, that's now your job".
Been reading this over and over and can't for the life of me understand what he's even trying to say. This is a lot of words to say... nothing.
