Now that I'm in the Game AI starter pack, I figure I should share something relevant. Here's some resources targeted at gameplay programmers looking to move into AI that I put together after our studio got hit with mass layoffs last year. It has an Unreal bias as that's what we were working in.

Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

a big developmental milestone for wanderhome was a vision of a melancholy and beautiful post-apocalyptic world, and then i wrote out what i could imagine the "bands of success and failure" were like — when a player takes an action, whats the best case? whats the worst case?
When you're writing a tabletop roleplaying game, the mechanics should evoke the atmosphere you want in your story.
A simple example: we're writing a cozy woodland mystery game. What are the combat mechanics like? Well, clearly there aren't any. Combat isn't part of our cozy woodland story.

This just accidentally turned into a content design keynote.
And look, all of this might be on me: I definitely didn’t chop the nuts to the correct fineness and maybe I should have interpreted the pear slicing instructions better. But part of my evaluation was how well the recipe succeeds as written; you shouldn’t have to be a brilliant cook to make it work.
