Do I know anyone in #wellington who can help me make a new handle for this broom, with a lathe to do the job? I tried to go and buy one at Bunnings, they were more than happy to sell me a new one but had no replacement handles. #zerowaste

Unreasonably annoyed that both RNZ and One News both ran stories with Teeks as the first musician on stage at the new theatre.

I guess the 450 local performers that were on stage Monday-Wednesday we're just chopped liver then.

TCC, WBOP Regional Council, and the Police might be finding themselves in both the Environment and High Courts on negligence regarding the slips
The Warnings were first there in 2014 after a comprehensive LiDAR was done on the area

Then the 111 call where police went yeah nah contact council
Matching bracelets, dress-ups and beach days: Teens holidaying together lost in slip
Police today named missing teens as Pakūranga College students Sharon and Max.

“Over the past ten years New Zealand has averaged 55.9 days annually under a State of Emergency each year, and 66.6 days over the last five. In the 10 years prior to this, New Zealand averaged only 13.4 days per year.”

Quick Q - how does recovery work with a rates cap in place and no govt. support🤔

1News reporting the the average rent has fallen to around $650 a week. Given a full time minimum wage job brings in just over $760 a week after tax and kiwisaver contributions it should probably fall further still

Probably a bit weird but I find it hard receiving gifts from people, or even just having people pay for me (coffee, lunch etc)…. I always end up worrying I did react appropriately or wasn’t grateful enough or something. Silly Brain!

Shane Jones has always been so terrified of young wāhine Māori with integrity

It's why they're so shook by Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clark too
Incredible that Jones got off the paepae in one piece after inviting Kuini Ngā wai hono i te po to “go home young queen” and tell Waikato voters they should have been more grateful to him personally, for some reason, for past government funding decisions. Shameless, self-regarding pompous misogynist
Rātana commemorations marked by political proposals and a government koha, but overshadowed by severe flooding and economic concerns.

🚨 SCOOP 🚨 Microsoft gives encryption keys to the FBI to unlock data on seized computers.

Comes from a fraud case in Guam.

But Microsoft tells me it gets around 20 requests for BitLocker keys a year.

How many keys has it given to feds over the years?

Microsoft Gave FBI BitLocker Encryption Keys, Exposing Privacy Flaw
The tech giant said providing encryption keys was a standard response to a court order. But companies like Apple and Meta set up their systems so such a privacy violation isn’t possible.

Slips have always been part of the landscape of Aotearoa but with deforestation and increased heavy rain events under climate change, they are going to become more frequent and widespread. Sadly we have learnt nothing from the Auckland Anniversary floods and Cyclone Gabrielle just 3 years ago. 🧵
