So weird that Firefox rose up as an open source alternative to Explorer, and now people are migrating to an open source alternative to Firefox (Waterfox)

Time is a flat circle, die a hero etc etc
Mozilla has a new CEO and he just announced that Firefox will evolve into a modern AI browser. This is a good example of how management doesn’t understand its own user base and why they go out of their way to install Firefox on Windows, Android, iOS and other devices blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/l...

The transcript of the interview with Larian's CEO reveals they know the public hates "AI" and are rejecting it left and right, but they're still insistent on using it so they're trying to couch it in terms that give them a "from a certain point of view" clause.

But it's the future, y'all.

Rob Reiner wanted to make The Princess Bride
- a story about a father sharing his favourite book with his son - because it was his favourite book, given to him by his father Carl Reiner.
That act of love became a grandfather reading to his grandson on screen.

Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

The games industry brings in 300 billion dollars a year. The guy who made DOOM gets his projects canceled, the guy who made Katamari Damacy is broke, everyone in your feed is begging for a job and there are 50 new games coming out on Steam every day all going towards buying Gabe Newell's next yacht
Keita Takahashi (Katamari, Wattam, Noby Noby Boy) has moved back to Japan, and says he may be forced to quit the games industry due to To a T underperforming.

He also says he'd love to work on Katamari again, and for someone to invest in his studio.

Update: YouTube straight up removed another video about loot boxes. They’re just hitting anything that mentions gambling regardless of context.

What a ridiculous platform.
YouTube restricted an old video about loot boxes being restricted by gambling laws under the “sale of regulated goods policy.”

Yes YouTube, my vids famously “depict or promote” gambling. Those years of anti-loot box videos were secretly pro-loot box the entire time, you ridiculous dumbfuck site 😂.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

AI has actively made life worse for literally everyone

- tech is now more expensive
- you cannot trust most media of reality anymore
- programs barely function
- energy prices
- literal psychosis
- your voice can be literally stolen for evil
- more spyware

but hey, you can avoid paying an artist.

The room I teach in most frequently has no windows. The door has a window. We could all crouch in the corner and not be seen from the door. But the lights are on a motion sensor. And none of the large furniture can be moved.

Ask me how many times I’ve run this scenario.
Same
Each semester I go in my classroom and I try to figure out what we would use to block the doors, if it would be safe to crawl out the windows, where we could hide if there was a mass shooter in campus. It’s such an indictment of this country how we have normalized these preventable tragedies.
