Remember how all these republicans pretended to believe in free speech?
Newly unsealed evidence makes it even clearer that Rubio and Noem knew they were targeting students based solely on their political speech and that they knew this policy was unconstitutional. They just didn’t care. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/22/u...

every democrat should be talking like this. all of them.
AOC: An agency that is attacking U.S. citizens, kidnapping five-year-olds and using them as bait, and privately circulating the idea that they can violate the rights of Americans by busting down their doors—they deserve to be defunded, and I’ll take any step in that direction.

Democrats needing to message on affordability as the country endures a brutal authoritarian takeover is tragic. Take it from someone who lives in occupied Minneapolis. Our problems go deeper than prices.

books about this era are going to heavily feature the failed Horst Wesseling of Kirk. it was the first place where the regime wanted something, got elite buy-in, and it blew up in their face
just thinking again about how MAGA’s attempt to suppress all criticism of Charlie Kirk created a backlash so intense that he is now probably the most abjectly Internet-defiled person in human history
genuinely Charlie Kirk may have been more degraded and demeaned by the Internet at this point than anyone else in human history

The DHS Form-205, a “warrant” of removal/deportation, is signed by an ICE official, not a judge. That’s precisely why it does not meet the Fourth Amendment standard.

(JD did go to Yale Law School so he legit may not know how the Fourth Amendment works)
JD Vance: "Nobody is talking about doing immigration enforcement without a warrant. We're talking about different types of warrants that exist in our system. Typically in the immigration system, those are handled by administrative law judges. So we're talking about getting warrants from them."

Again, if you are a women’s sports team, especially high school or college, it’s time to reconsider your affiliation with X. (As if the racism wasn’t enough to leave already.) Do you really want your brand associated with a site that allows users to scrape images of your athletes and create porn?
We set out to determine how many images of women and girls Grok created during its nudifying spree. What we found was “industrial-scale abuse,” experts said. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/22/t...

The lack of salary transparency actively suppresses the earning power of NWSL players, and it's not especially convincing that misogynistic vitriol—to which they are already subjected every hour of every day—would be any worse if their salaries were in the public sphere.

i was recounting everything that happened in 2021 the other day and even though i covered the team through it all i still couldn't believe the words that were coming out of my mouth
I don't think modern US sports have anything like the solidarity Spirit players created & maintained in 2021 in the face of dual league-wide & internal crises, and to this day I don't think ownership changes hands without it. Rodman even alluded to that battle during today's presser.

I sat down to dinner with my parents soon after the Trinity Rodman announcement ended.

My mother follows soccer tangentially, mainly through her son, but knows who Trinity Rodman is and how big a deal she is in D.C.

"Maybe they should raise the salary cap for the women," she said.
January 23, 2026 at 3:23 AM
Truth. I am thrilled Rodman is staying, but the unserious league administration did everything possible to mess this up.
the league tried its damnedest to mess this up, and if rodman didn't have the connection to dc and the community of supporters at audi field, she would be yet another star leaving. they'll tout this as a league-wide win, it is not, the win is the property of the women's soccer community in dc.

the Ds who voted for ice funding suck and deserve to be primaried.

I don't think Ds could have blocked the funding though. Rs control the floor; they have a majority. they can just hold the bill till enough Rs show up, which is what they would have done in this case.
