I am making a thread of the beginnings of all the chapters of the Pharisee’s Wife so it’s easier to find.
Greek and Roman culture was down on polygyny and they made a big deal out of having only one wife. At the time of the foundation of Christianity and its early centuries there was push back against polygyny among Jews as well.
I know everyone wants to meme about polycules and patriarchs, but let's take a couple minutes and think here.
1) Historically, monogamy is a significant step forward for women's rights.
2) The Salt Lake City Tribune may have different motives for caring about polygamy than my queer friends...

I want to clarify because I have studied Talmud with Jewish atheists. But it would be wild to actually have a discussion about the argument at the beginning of Taanit with a non-Jewish atheist because I am curious what their opinion would be on that.
