I appreciate how this is framed too. As a former migrant worker, it infuriates me when ‘supportive’ people say things like ‘oh let them do the work nobody else wants to.’ Entire food groups wouldn’t be eaten by people in US if not for exploitation of immigrant labor. Support these workers!
The US food system is highly dependent on the exploitation of immigrant labor from farms to processing plants - the trump administration is ratcheting up unjust policies that have been developed through decades. These workers are showing amazing courage under terrible circumstances.

It really pays to remind ourselves frequently that this whole immigration "crisis" is made up out of whole cloth. There was no emergency,danger or problem, only a demagogue stirring up racist grievances for political advantage.

I've never had tear gas launched at me straight from over my head until now. That's also what happened to these unmasked, normie daytime protesters. ICE is shooting the tear gas up in the air so it arcs and falls way across the street and into the next block.

Let me just also say that while literally everything happening now is connected to us looking the other way when it happened to black people (or openly supporting it)- the paramilitary terrorizing the interior of US is absolutely connected to decades of border vigilantism-

No need to imagine. The country incarcerates children as young as 9 years old daily in youth prisons and jails. Those children are routinely sexually and physically assaulted and also emotionally tortured. They are fed terrible food and given barely any education. This country has done this for yrs.

Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com

You can get a 'light' case of measles with minor symptoms, and then 7 to 11 years later, your brain can swell up for no reason and you will die because there's no cure. OR! You can develop a Parkinsons-like neurological disorder and die slower over 1-3 years while your brain just.. fails.
