I found a 19th century Cat Villain!

A huge chonk of a fluffy cat sitting on a table near an open fire. The cat is cream and grey and appears to be shaped like a barrel in a fur coat. They are scowling fiercely with their moustache and bewhiskered ears apparently flowing back into the cold wind. There's a definite vibe that this villainous cat twirls their moustache as they evict orphans into the aforementioned blizzard and think Scrooge was an easy-going lightweight. They are magnificent.

Cupcake report: They were really fucking good, however, the shop needs to invest in better boxes. They were so top heavy with frosting that they kept falling over, even when the boxes were sitting still on a table. It made them look a mess but they still tasted really good.

I get cities mixed up in my head, which today lead to me thinking I only needed to go to Lyn-Lake, Minneapolis, instead of Lakeville, MN. I basically drove an hour to pick up cupcakes and then drove an hour home with them.

They'd better be really fucking good - though from reviews, they will be.

Outside the post office today, I met someone's rat. A ratty nose poked up out of the hood of their hoodie and I did the happy rat churble at it, AS YOU DO, and suddenly this amazing Gambian Pouched Rat comes boiling out doing happy bruxing and churbles back. His name is BigBoi and he was glorious.

Right now I have Ember Bees, Scarlets, Green Lasers, Sakura, Silent Hill, Miyakos, Lemon Blues, Crystal Pineapples, Skeletons, Duckies in all morphs, Rusts, Dairy Cows, Milkbacks, and I think I'm forgetting two other species. There are also four new bins seeded with springtails waiting. Waiting.

Someday I might try to isolate my own morph. Right now I'm having fun with Sam's surviving Dairy Cows, which are throwing what look like dilute light chocolate, possibly orange?, spots. Can't tell if actual spots or some sort of weird soil staining but I'm isolating them in new substrate anyway.

I'm a gene geek. I love these weird little isolations. Edwin Lopez is the guy who developed the Ember Bees and Scarlets, and he's just shown pictures of yet another fun bright red isolation morph that I will probably pay way too much for when they're available. My Bees came from him.

There's another morph called Cherry Blossom but that's a different morph. Sakuras' foundation is Tropical Isopod's albino Red Pak Chongs. Cherry Blossoms came from Richard's Inverts and his og's came from Japan, no idea what the foundation species was though I would also suspect Pak Chongs.

This is the opposite of normal isopod behaviours. My Ember Bees do it, and they also come to stare at me when the office light comes on. My other... several... species are 'boxes of dirt', where you don't see them until you flip a log over.

Did I mention that Sakuras are pink?

Tiny pink isopods crawling over tan sphagnum moss in the top of a tupperware that has crushed leaves, some live moss, and charcoal also visible.

Slipped and fell and my wallet decided I needed some Cubaris Sakuras. Shout out to Shield Wall Exotics, who had them at super discount and sent them well packaged and with a super generous overcount. They might be my new fave. Open the bin, they come to the top like, "Hello? Hi? What are you?"

Things Smol will climb over a table to mug us for: Pickled daikon, hummus, steak, bbq ribs, Barbados macaroni pie, green chile chicken tamales, pho, pickled ginger from sushi, cooked broccoli, cilantro, and any form of cheese.

It's.. kind of a nice problem to have, really.

Things Smol will not eat: PB&J, breaded chicken nuggets/tenders even if the breading is taken off, cardboard pizza, bland mac 'n cheese, cooked hot dogs, hamburgers, 'boring' grilled cheese.

99.99999% of children's menus are those things. Frustrating.
