Once in a century political opportunity here, if only there were a party to claim it

A majority believe there should be a cap on how much wealth a person can accumulate." www.nytimes.com/2025/12/14/o...

We don’t need moral repair. We need so we can have policies favored by large supermajorities of Americans.

The difference is not cultural or moral or social. It’s that Australia is a democracy, with electoral, legislative, & judicial that translate the preferences of majorities into policy.

We, too, could have those, but we have to stop ignoring the problem:

The anti-Semitic mass shooting in Australia will cause a national conversation and policy change. We know this because the 1996 Port Arthur massacre led to significant restrictions on guns.
The shooting at Brown will do nothing. We know this because it occurred on the anniversary of Sandy Hook.

You know what shouldn’t be controversial?

That there is no — zero — right to own a gun. Zero. Antonin Scalia made that up when he made up an entirely new second amendment in 2008.

No right to a gun. Scalia made it up. Say that, @delauro.house.gov
Safe storage isn’t controversial; it’s responsible. If you keep a firearm at home, kids should not be able to access it.

No parent should have to bury a child because of an unlocked gun. Ethan’s Law is the standard our children deserve.

I think the general public is very aware now of how utterly corrupt and inept Trump and all of his minions are. Including several supreme court justices. There is a constitutional mechanism for removing them; our national situation is exactly why that mechanism exists. So use it.
Impeachment is a tool for political accountability, not a “sacred” constitutional ritual. If it were truly about evidence, the Senate would’ve convicted Trump unanimously after his coup attempt—the same way every jury has unanimously found him liable or guilty when the facts actually matter.

I know, I know. No one wants the military involved domestically and "the military won't save us." However, the military officer oath explicitly says, "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

So a few thoughts about that.
Make no mistake, if the 14th Amendment should fall - I am not saying it will, there are plenty of obstacles, I am speaking hypothetically - but if it should fall, no one is safe. It is challenging for most families to prove legal citizenship beyond a generation or two.

And BTW, where's that War Room you announced in April, Ken?
This is racist and dangerous. Last I checked, Somalians are Black and Rep. Omar is a colleague. Where are the @housedemocrats.bsky.social? The @blackcaucus.bsky.social ?

Do not allow these insults to go unanswered.

Coffee made at home is not only better, it can save you a lot of money over time. You can buy a decent espresso machine with your savings and it will last for years. This is a way to fight inflation and not give your money to a big corporation.

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

I don't get it @schumer.senate.gov . You could resign and take a cushy, highly paid lobbying job—and everyone would applaud you taking that step. Instead, you steadfastly insist on going down in history as a man who didn't meet the moment, forever stamped as weak and cowardly. So I don't get it.
