also I think most parents of small children, if presented with actual evidence that hamas is funding ms Rachel, will initially respond with "so I guess hamas does good things too?"

This leads us to the obvious question: Is The NY Times operated by a covert ring of child sexual predators? WHY WON’T THEY ANSWER?!

the minute flights got canceled, Dems folded like a house of cards, leaving me to wonder why the fuck this post made some of you so angry
not enough chatter about how frequently members fly and how attacking airport capacity directly affects them in a way that cutting SNAP does not

Interesting that NY gov Kathy Hochul felt compelled to put out a statement against Dems' deal to end the shutdown

Not that he didn’t already know, but now Trump knows for sure he can roll the Dems every time and there’s no need to negotiate for anything

This entire thread
Calling the Democrats “cowards” suggests that they're scared to do what's right when they show no fervent interest in being an opposition. They're largely colluders, not cowards. Many want their base to think they're cowards to maintain investment in the idea that they can be pushed to do better.

the party as a whole had a comms strategy centering health care...but it depends on a handful of senators whose main priority it turns out was not health care.

though they won't say that. 1
not snark, actually asking: after pushing a comma strategy that focused on health care, what is the case for the Democrats making a deal to end the shutdown now that doesn't involve a win on health care?

Democratic senators think you are so fucking stupid.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

I don't know what the Senate is going to do. But if they do in fact fold in exchange for nothing, they will be living up to past performance. To expect the Senate to carry out the will of the American people is to misunderstand why it was created in the first place.

is it good when the dems in the house of representatives start calling for the senate to be abolished

I don't understand the senate cave caucus. I guess they just suck?
Unacceptable. There are 189,000 people in my district who will be paying 50–300% more for the same, and in many cases worse, healthcare.

I won’t do that to the people I represent. I’m a NO on this “deal.”

Oh sure you think Chuck Schumer is “caving” and “wants to ruin all the momentum” and “is horrible at politics” but what if I was to tell you that this old crazy man ran the idea by an imaginary married Irish American couple that exists only in his mind and they think it’s great politics
