Yes, don’t confuse COVID w/ tuberculosis. But do consider that part of TB‘s comeback could be related 2 widespread immune system harm from repeated COVID infections. TB is considered an AIDS-defining illness since it often occurs w/ advanced HIV, wherein the immune system is significantly weakened.
Do not confuse common Covid symptom with deadly Victorian disease, experts warn
Cases of TB are on the rise in the UK 🏥

Children are sicker than ever, struggling in school, experiencing developmental delays, and suffering from immune system dysregulation. #LongCovid is now the number 1 chronic illness in children.

Many peer-reviewed science and legions of experts have called for clean air in public schools.

But that wasn’t the point. The point is when measles cases are detected they shut down schools, hospitals and other facilities. They contact trace. They treat it seriously. And measles can wipe immune memory & do lots of horrible shit. But SARS-2 is worse & likely transmits as easily or more so.

Equivalent? None. All viruses carry risk, but nothing works as fast and extends as far as SARS-CoV-2 except some other BSL-3 viruses and higher, BUT we don’t just let them rip through society. We contain them.

Another reason we mask: so we don't miss work.

I've been sick once in five years.

(It was OG Omicron, and it laid me out for almost a month. I'm not interested in repeating that.)

Before 2020, I used to miss a day at least twice each year due to respiratory infections. I'm fine with ending that.

US research:

"COVID-19 may have created a new year-round baseline for work absences...similar to influenza season conditions before the pandemic"

jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

"Policymakers should consider...policies & actions that mitigate the spread of #COVID19"

#LongCovid #CovidIsNotOver
Key Points
Question Following the COVID-19 pandemic, has SARS-CoV-2 circulation been associated with health-related absences from work and labor force exits?

Findings In this nationally representative cohort study of approximately 158.4 million workers, rates of health-related work absences remained elevated after the pandemic and were associated with circulating SARS-CoV-2 and subsequent decreases in labor force participation by absence-affected workers.

Meaning These findings suggest that COVID-19 may have created a new year-round baseline for work absences that is similar to influenza season conditions before the pandemic; policymakers should consider expanding interventions and data collection efforts to address the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the labor force.

There was never any reason to believe they would be. While it's true that kids aren't just small adults, it's also true that a human body is a human body, and anything COVID can do to adults, we have to consider it can potentially do to kids. Kids aren't unicorns impervious to biological processes.

Handwashing does BASICALLY NOTHING to prevent covid.

It's airborne. It's spread by breathing in aerosolized water (saliva) particles bearing the SARS-CoV-2 virus, exhaled/coughed/sneezed out by people with Covid.

Masks help with that. Handwashing does not.

Another article that fails to talk about COViD being predominantly airborne and just focuses on handwashing only. Also again, no mention of #PostInfectionRisk. This is not a normal situation to be failing to prevent airborne infections.

“Immunologists tell me that the average person’s immune system looks different than it did in 2019. That we’re walking around with more inflammation, and with immune systems that don’t work quite as well as they did in the beforetimes (on average).” #COVID

Untreated HIV can take on average around 10 years to progress to AIDS. This means HIV was unknowingly circulating throughout the ‘70s (and likely before). Going by this rough timeline, we won’t know what damage a single COVID infection, let alone several, does long term until around 2030.
oniblackstock.bsky.social
The first reports of what would eventually be called AIDS and its causative agent identified as HIV were published in the MMWR in 1981 alerting health care and public health systems across the country. A tremendous loss for public health.

"The pandemic of Covid-19 is over" is a lie.

"Covid-19 is no worse than a cold" is a lie.

"Repeated infections of Covid-19 build immunity" is a lie.

"Covid-19 is not harmful to children" is a lie.

"Because of Covid vaccines, we no longer have to worry about Covid-19" is a lie.
