Here’s a useful reminder of what our federal courts SHOULD be doing to uphold our constitutional traditions:
Annotating the Judge’s Decision in the Case of Liam Conejo Ramos, a 5-Year-Old Detained by ICE (Gift Article)
Our critic annotates the barbed wordplay of a decision challenging the Trump administration’s theory of executive power.

The letter from Bill and Hillary Clinton to James Comer explaining their refusal to testify in his Epstein investigation is really remarkable, not like any letter of this genre I've seen. It's signed by them, not a lawyer, and the arguments are not legal ones. Reprinted from their X account:

@leolaporte.me Leo, you are mispronouncing Rhea Seahorn’s name. It is pronounced “Ray”.

I mixed all the Better Call Saul commentaries and have heard her say her name many times.

You have a fantastic vocabulary and I just wanted to let you know. Love listening to all your podcasts.

Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest
Honestly insane they didn't brief the gang of eight until it was underway

First for Brands you don’t ever negotiate discounts. You use a rebate GPO to auction off access to your formulary.

Why do it through a rebate GPO ? Why charge most companies to access their claims , without net prices ? Why not negotiate using net prices rather than rebates ? And much more.

Figured I’d hop on here today for the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.

With everything going on right now, it’s easy to feel like regular folks can’t make a difference – but the ACA is a reminder that change is possible when we fight for progress.

Shutting down a bunch of federal agencies only makes sense if the plan is to retain power indefinitely. I’d like to see reporters ask prominent Republicans if they think Democrats will just rebuild these agencies in four years. I believe some of the answers would be revealing.

Maybe corny but it was helpful for me to hear Henry Rollins saying "this is not time to be dismayed, this is punk rock time, this is what Joe Strummer trained you for... You can be thunderous in your own life, to the eight people around you. That rubs off... Goodness is viral"

Today’s timeline cleanse is our resident gaucho, don Daniel, and Ron, our border collie, rounding up the llamas & alpacas after a long day. Tara, our Great Pyrenees, looks on. A fun detail: Gilbert, a white alpaca, gets spun around. Ron nips his heal to set him straight. Border collies are amazing!

Did you know that scientists no longer use the Richter Scale to measure earthquake magnitude?

Now, we tend to use the “Moment Magnitude (Mw)” scale, which was built off of the tenets of the Richter scale. 🧪 ⚒️

Voters can't quit Diarrhea Forever. It boggles the mind — but it's not unexplainable.
